Ooooo, what a great question. I know that I haven't been able to from my phone, but I'm not sure about a tablet. Let me get some more tech savvy people in here to see that question. @Slinky @MustBeJewel can either of you help with this question?

I can help, since most of the pictures in my gallery are from my tablet


Go to gallery and tap on "upload images" or something.
Then tap on "upload" and it will ask you if you want to "take a picture" or "choose existing".
Do like a normal picture as in the computer.

EDIT: In my iPad,it never said they were too big. Try horisontal-y
