for those who aren't with us, the Hasbro tour was AWESOME!! Everyone took lots of pictures, which I'm sure will be up soon. We're still on the bus back to the hotel.

The actual point of this thread though is to get feedback from everyone who was there. W'ell be sharing your input with Hasbro, so give us your feedback and let us know what you thought!!!

I thought it was great! It was a little rushed but totally understandable! And that was super nice of them to give everyone a pony and silver 25th birthday pin:) I already had the pony and the bus driver was just joking about where his was cause he has a grand daughter, so I gave him mine for her since I didn't need her:)

I loved seeing how they made everything even though they had the 2009 stuff hidden, booo:p Everyone was super friendly and you can tell they love there jobs.

I'll try and post some pics soon!

*edit* Here's my pics! I'll add captions later! Enjoy!

Hi

Thanks for taking the pictures for those who cant be there.

:)

On another note is that potatoe head outside every hasbro? There is on in the town of longuele not far from my house.

Hey gang. That was awesome. The tour reminded me of the feeling Charlie must have gotten when he toured Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory. If you ever saw the movie Big with Tom Hanks, that's pretty much accurate as far as the inner workings of a toy company from what I saw.

I have to say I was pretty disappointed to hear that the entire line of MLPs has been reduced to a mere seven ponies. Not that I have room for more ponies, but if I did, I wouldn't want it to be filled with constant new reincarnations of the same seven ponies. And there's only one unicorn and one pegasus! Even Minty got the shaft. Green ponies don't sell as well. Apparently we'll never see boy ponies, newborn twins, seaponies, or anything new.

I understand that Hasbro needs to make a profit, and I don't blame them for sticking to the tried and true, but I'd also feel like a sucker to keep shelling out money for the same pony ten or more times over. Hopefully they'll make some cool stuff with the collectors in mind, even if we're not their main cash cow.

That being said, it was an amazing experience. The whole staff was totally friendly and accomodating, and I'm SO glad I got to go. Thanks to Hasbro and the Pony Fair peeps who arranged for us all to get there.

The tour was awesome... even better than I had expected! I liked the way that they divided the tour into the different segments of G1 creation, G3 design process, the 'behind the scenes' tour where they were hand painting littlest Pet Shop prototypes & such, marketing, and product licensing. It gave a complete overview of all that goes into ponies from idea to store shelf.
My favorite part was hearing Bonnie's story of how My Little Pony came to be. I was also very excited about the G1 prototypes: Bonnie's black & brown ponies and the green shy pose clay model.
The entire staff was very friendly. I was kind of surprised that most of the Hasbro pony team were ladies who had ponies when they were young. For some reason I had the idea that ponies were made by old men in business suits sitting around a table saying "Little girls love pink. More pink ponies!"... haha!
I'm so excited to have had the opportunity to go on the tour. Thanks to the amazing Fair Staff & Hasbro!!

Worth the 10 hour drive there, and then 12 hour drive back. Incredible. If you were a young girl on the tour, you must have died and thought you gone to heaven.

I loved the offices in the painting area!! Toys EVERYWHERE!!! Did you see the one office where the guy had about 1 MIP Star Wars Figurines from the 80's, and the S CLub Seven Dolls on his walls? Their offices look like my room.

The presentations were very well done, keep me interested at all points. Seeing a prototype was not expected! You know Hasbro has some stuff hidden around, but to actually see it, and know that 25 years later they still have it? wow.

Thank you Hasbro, the best part of the Fair.

Tour

I thought the tour was amazing and much better than what I initially expected. I learned a lot and had a great time! Many thanks to Hasbro and the fair staff for the wonderful things they orchestrated for us fair goers this year.

The tour was great, and the employees are incredibly nice. The model room was cool, even though we couldn't take pictures. Chad said that if you looked through the door to the "2009" room, you could see a few ponies, but I missed it and couldn't go back and peek.

I enjoyed seeing Bonnie's original horse-colored prototypes and the clay pony. I also liked that they showed us the process of creating a pony/playset. It was also interesting to hear how the girl in charge of merchandising (Jess, I think) made the decisions about how to pose/draw the ponies. She gave the example of when the ponies have a pillow fight, should they hold the pillows with their hooves or mouths?

It was really great of them to give us all a pony. I didn't even realize that there were pins in our bags until I was packing things up to go home. That was so generous of them!

I felt bad because I kept yawning. It wasn't because I was bored by anything. Everything was great! I was just tired because we drove all night to get there.
