Greetings from a Newpony!

Welcome to the MLP TP, fellow writer!

You have a lot of great hobbies :satisfied:

Thanks! :smilepony: And I'm always happy to meet another writer. I like to write fantasy and the occasional soft sci-fi (science is magic! *no one is surprised that I write this*). How about you?

*sheepish* I think I might have too many hobbies. I didn't even mention yoga, photography, clay sculpting, needle felting, hiking, scrapbooking... the list goes on.

Welcome to the MLPTP!!♥
Its a very easy going place here.. I love it ~
Oh and welcome to the Collection Bug club too lol
Once you start collecting its hard to stop ;)

I loooovvve Archery~
Modern society focases on football, basketball etc...
Archery is so overlooked~
I was top.of my class in school when it came to the bow n arrow~
I miss it very much

Thank you! And yes, this seems like such a welcoming, friendly place. It's wonderful!

Oh, my, I have that Bug for sure! Utterly incurable.

Archery is great! I think it gets overlooked because it's not as competitive as other sports. Yes, there's a score and there are competitions, but for the most part you're actually competing with yourself more than anyone else. It's kind of a mental thing.

My niece is an archer, too, and far superior to me because she has more time to practice. I tease her that it's because she shoots a compound bow and I shoot a recurve, but the truth is that she's just better at it than I am. For now. :winkpony:

Aw, you don't shoot anymore? :sadpony: You should give it another go! You already know how fun it is... *encouraging nudge*

The only plant I've ever successfully grown from cuttings is Purple Heart. I started with three tiny cuttings, and ended up with a four-foot-by-six-foot bed overflowing with the stuff. I love it. :satisfied:

Oh yeah! I know that stuff! There's a plant that grows a lot around here which I think is related to it (not purple though). It's very pretty and I think it used to be a garden plant but now it's escaped and it grows everywhere :surprisepony:

Hey, if you're interested in growing plants from cuttings, try putting a twig of pelargonium or impatiens in a vase of water – it'll often grow roots if you leave it a few weeks. That's how I started out growing cuttings. It's actually really easy! I find seeds much harder unless it's lettuces or something

Hey, I used to do archery too! It's good fun! I only stopped because I down own a bow

★Ember:
I think about archery alot actually~
Its a very.. "Regal".. noble sport.
Part of the appeal is the fact that it is so overlooked.
And also appealing because there is something very pure & untainted
when working with the bow. Its a natural feeling.

It seems only the most adventurous in heart..
take up with Archery :)

We'll see what happens,
but I remember how much I enjoyed it!
The power & tension as I pulled back, setting my target...
the awesome rush as my arrow shot high above me.
I think a part of us soars with the arrow when its released♥
I do miss it ;)

Oh, yeah, this one is half-wild, too. I could almost call it a tame weed, it's so hardy and apt to spread. :winkpony:

I'll have to try that with the cuttings. It would be fun to be able to do that!

Archery is a lovely hobby. Hopefully you'll have a bow of your own and can shoot again one of these days. :smilepony:

I like that there is a very specific mental state attached to shooting. It makes me feel calm and focused, yet sort of fierce at the same time.

You'll need to let us check out your writing! I love to read, goodness knows. Have you ever been published? Nothing like seeing your name in print! :smilepony:

You can never have too many hobbies! They keep you from getting bored and becoming a criminal madpony. Personally one of my hobbies IS being a criminal madpony, but each to their own.

My main problem with my hobbies is having the room necessary to contain them all. My book reading/collecting in particular is always problematic with a continually growing collection, but one day I'll just build onto the house and perhaps finally have enough shelf space. One day! In my spare time. HA! :surprisepony:

I have indeed been published (wheeeee!), but sadly it was in a small online magazine which is now defunct. It was called Dragonfly Spirit, and they published a series of children's short stories that I wrote about a pair of frogs. I also had a couple of other short stories (another kids' story and a short fantasy story) pub'd online, but again, nothing that can be tracked down now. :(

I'm afraid my writing rarely sees the light of day anymore. Sometime it gets lucky and finds itself in an e-mail to a friend or doing the rounds of a critique circle, but for the most part it has only me for company. :sadpony:

"Criminal Madpony" sounds like an excellent hobby! Plenty of opportunity to exercise one's more imaginative impulses. :satisfied:

Oh, indeed. One day I will trade my house in for a library and build from there. Floor to ceiling shelves! Fireplaces with massive, squashy armchairs in front! Secret rooms behind all the best bookcases! Teatime with the clockwork bats! It will be glorious.
