My Dog Diesel was a 155 pound great dane despite being 12 years old he still was a baby. Over the last year his health was up and down. Danes are wonderful dog but like most large breeds they sadly have a shorter life span then other breeds.
Diesel was not doing so good the last week we went to the vet today. I have watch his hips get worse and seen him fall more then I wanted. He could not even get into the truck and it so low to the ground. So at the vet I was told what I did not want to here. D was just worn out. I think I have know this for awhile maybe I was shellfish and should have taken him sooner. But what dog owner has not wanted to keep there pet as long as they can. I could not take it anymore. and after a long tearful hug and goodbye from me and my dad I held him as he went to sleep and out of pain.
The staff at the Hospital were very nice they gave me the time I need. They made a paw print for me and they hugged me which I rarely let anyone do. The vet told me he lost his two dane who were D age just a few month before to old age and he said the pain never really goes away but it get easier to bear.
So my boy is over the rainbow bridge now with my horse Buddy, my dog BJ, my other dogs cracker and Amber and Draco. I did have him cremated thanks to my aunt and uncle who help me with it and my parents and other friends.
Till we meet again my lovely Diesel Doo! Rest In Peace!
