I'm starting to plan a Pony Meet near Reading, Pennsylvania to be held in September 2014. I know this is more than a year away, but I'm trying to gauge interest to help with my planning. I'm looking into renting a place to hold the meet, so having a rough estimate of people interested will help me to find an appropriate size venue.

Location: near Reading, PA
-approx. 1.5hr west of Philadelphia
-approx. 2hr north of Baltimore
-approx. 4hr east of Pittsburgh
-located about 15 minutes from an exit of the PA turnpike.

Date: mid-late September 2014, on a Saturday

Questions:
-Will you bring anyone other than yourself (significant other, friend, parent, children, ect.)? If you plan to bring children, please let me know ages so that I can plan appropriate activities.

-How would you feel about paying a small admission to help cover costs of the venue (I'm thinking $5-10 depending on the cost of the venue)?

-Would you be willing to bring a food contribution?

-Have you attended any other pony events, such as a local meet or the Fair?

Also, please be aware that while all types of pony fans are welcomed, this will be an event like the "old school pony collector meets". If you are only interested in G4 & none of the earlier Generations, this may not be the meet for you.

Edit to add:
Questions are welcome! Your questions will help me plan & may bring up something I haven't thought about yet. ;)

That's perfectly reasonable!

YEs, certainly!

I will do everything I can to be there and support the meet! Kitten however will be away at college next fall :(

You know my personal meet history, I think we are good :p

oooh...If its near harrisburg I may be able to go. My BF's family lives near there...somewhere. However, Harrisburg is lie 12 hours from me as I live in Northeastern NY - but I wouldnt mind a bus trip...if I had too. IF I can subject myself to 3 days of a greyhound, 12-14 hours in nothing.

Hi everyone! VERY long time no post I know, but I'm back from personal stuff again into the pony world, as is my buddy Opalfairie. We are both in, and really can't wait to see you and everyone else again! We haven't been to a meet in years and are really looking forward to it.:smilepony:

Opalfairie in the house!!

::peeks in::
Yep I still exist too! But school/life got in the way, I am going to try and post and will def make an appearance at the meet. :waves to everyone:: :winkpony:

Hi Pony Friends! Now that 2014 is officially here, I'm hoping to start making some concrete plans for the Reading Pony Meet.

I've started to look at a few possible venues, and I'd like to get some input. One option is an outdoor pavilion in a park (will look for something with indoor bathrooms, no port-a-pots). Another option is a small reception/meeting room at a hotel. Tentative dates would be Saturday September 13th or 20th (date may be determined by venue availability).

Also I have set up an email address for the meet:

readingponymeet AT gmail DOT com
(please remove spaces & make obvious symbol substitutions)

If you are interested in attending the meet, please email me with the information below. Even if you are not sure you can attend, this info will greatly help me with planning. :) I will also send out group emails for updates on date, location, additional planning, ect as the time gets closer. Thanks everyone!!

Real name:

ID on the boards:

Age: (ok to make a general estimate here if you are shy about numbers)

Location:

Level of interest:
-wouldn't miss it
-would like to, but will decide closer to that time
-it's a long shot, but I'll see

Have you attended a Pony Meet, Fair, or other gathering before?

Will you bring anyone with you? significant other, parent, friend, children (if children, please list ages so that I can plan appropriate activities)

Do you or any of your guests have any special needs, dietary requirements, life threatening allergies, ect? (This is not meant to be intrusive. This is to make sure that everyone is as comfortable, happy, and safe as possible)

Do you plan to bring ponies & any pony-related items to sell or trade, ie Will you need a table?

Top 5 favorite ponies?

Any other info you'd like to share about yourself? (I have known some of you for years, others I'll be meeting for the first time. This question is optional, please don't feel pressured, lol!)

Hmm.. this is really tempting as the boondocks are only 45 minutes away from Reading.. that's were we go shopping and suchlike. But September.. I'm not sure. We'll be doing a lot of stuff by that time.

I just saw this. I'm not too far from you, I would love to come. :smilepony: I'm not sure right now if I will or will not bring anyone, but I don't have any children.

Oh, I so wish I could travel that far, or that someone would do something like this in my area. I'd love so much to attend!

I hope lots of people can go, and that everyone has a wonderful time! Please post pix so those if us who can't come can still share in the pony joy!

Skip, got your email & glad to have a nearby pony friend on board! :satisfied:

Sweetiebabyfizzy, I'd love it if you could make it! I remember you from the MD Meets a few years back until you moved away for a bit. If you could please email me with the questions above, it would be very helpful in keeping things organized (trying to get a rough idea of interest so that I can rent an appropriately sized venue, lol). :smilepony:

WrittenEmber, keep an eye out, there may be a Meet in your area! Meet season is usually the spring & summer. I'm posting VERY early because I'm trying to set up a first time Meet which requires a little bit of planning & a lot of guess work. Also, the Events forum is a good place to check out for upcoming events! MustBeJewel graciously let me advertise in the General Discussion forum because she's just kind of awesome like that.

Can I come?

I'm currently 15, I will be 16 by the time the meet comes up... So I was wondering if I could go to it...

Hi, you can come to the Meet, but you will have to bring a parent. I hope this doesn't sound too harsh, but I can't be responsible for anyone who is not legally an adult (under the age of 18. ) If your mom or dad is willing to hang out with a bunch of pony collectors for the day, you are very welcomed to attend. :winkpony:

I was going to bring my dad with me anyways since I won't be able to drive yet. And I totally understand.

Not really worth bumping for a cancellation notice, but I wanted to be sure that those who had not emailed me would also get the update message. Thanks everyone

Dear Pony Friends,

I've very sorry to say that I will not be able to host a meet this September. At this point, I just don't have the resources (both time and financial) to plan an event right now. This has been a whirlwind year for me between balancing a very intense new job and time with my family, and I simply can't devote enough time to make this as special as many of the other Pony Meets I've attended.

It has been a long time dream of mine to host a Pony Meet, and with the overwhelming amount of interest it's clear that Pennsylvania is long over due for a Pony Meet. That said, I will be putting my effort into planning something for 2015 either in early Spring or Fall.

Thank you for your understanding & I hope to see some of you at the Fair!
