Hi all! This is my first time posting here
Possibly a stupid question, and I wouldn't try to attempt this unless I knew it was for sure possible, but has anyone ever tried to split open the bodies or wings of these G4 Water Cuties ponies?
I have a few, and some different possibilities came into mind, being able to refill the wings due to the water evaporating over time [does it? some just seem not as full as they should be], replacing the glitter [I have the Applejack and she seems like she might be kind of dirty inside, who knows how!] or putting different glitter in there for customising purposes, or using a different liquid inside that is better for dispersing the glitter, it's fun for playing with but doesn't display great.
Maybe I'm just being way too finicky, but let me know if it's possible because I'm so curious! Something to note is that the bodies aren't the same as the wings, the bodies are harder plastic and the wings feel slightly softer? Idk if I'm right on that one.

Hiya !
I tried opening one of the water-filled wings from a bait Rainbow Dash I had but it was very painful and definitly not worth it !
Never tried with the water-filled bodies one, I don't have any bait or doubles of them as they were kinda hard to find in France and Switzerland..

If you want to try, maybe heating the glue a lil bit (not too hot to not damage the platic) could work ?
lmk ! :lolpony:

Good morning. Not a stupid question at all. Yeah some people have, they say to use distilled water and something else. Can't remember what exactly. I don't know about the water wings.

Oh my, this is very interesting! I don't have a ton, and I don't think I have doubles, but I would have to be really sure what I was doing would work, be able to find an extra for cheap, or have an unrestorable pony to try it first.
When you opened the wings, were you able in any way to reassemble them after? It definitely sounds and seems tricky, I would definitely be worried about melting the wings. I wonder if it's possible to detach the wings from the pony first to do it? It seems to be a far easier possibility to open the water bodied ponies rather than the water winged.
Of course it's not a necessity, I was just curious about it, but I do also want my collection to look as nice and be as clean as possible, and while sorting the only water ponies I've found seem like their glitter has clumped somehow inside, or in the case of Flower Wishes the green has slightly stained inside her leg I think, so if it's a resolvable problem I'd be happy to try it.
My entire collection is one huge restoration project for me, they've all come second hand from eBay, Facebook Marketplace, charity shops or carboots, which means they've been through the wars of years of play and aren't the most hygienic.
I'd also be interested, I assume it is, but inside the ponies is it actually just water and glitter? Sorry to ramble.

Thank you so much! If you can remember at all, has it been discussed here before or somewhere else? No worries if you don't know, I've done a few cursory looks on the topic but I didn't find a ton, what would *really* help is if there was a youtube video on it, but it seems like there's not, at least from anything I've found.

On the mlparena. That was a long time ago though.

The water does evaporate over time, i've seen new in box water cuties with only half of the body with water, and i had a glitter wings with less water than normal too, so yes

Same happened to my Blossomforth's wings. I also had Water Cuties Princess Luna and her glitter had disintegrated or something - it's colored layer detached from sparkly one.

I'd probably take the smallest drill bit possible and make a small hole and fill through there. And reseal with a bit of glue. But I don't have a water cutie to experiment on. last one I had I customised and painted over the wings.

That reminds me of watching videos of people who make resin shaker toys. They fill it up with liquid or glycerin or whatever and seal the hole with UV resin.

Late reply, but I've seen doll customizers soak a doll in denatured alcohol to dissolve the glue holding the body together, and they're able to pry it apart pretty easily. Seems like it could potentially work on the wings as well.
