Calling the G3 costumes "a joke" would be giving them too much credit. That Rainbow Dash costume is awesome.

I think I had the Parasol costume when I was a kid. Yup, plastic everything.

But back to the original topic, I do love the new Rainbow Dash outfit! It's adorable. :)
 
Lol)))g1 costumes are pajamas with scary masks,G3 are very ponyish [I think it's good-when you are dressed as pony,you must be a pony],g4 isn't a costume at all-just a fancy dress.
 
I think the dress is so so pretty but how does that tell anyone that you are a pony? There is nothing about it that transforms its wearer into a pony. A costume should depict the character or thing you want to be..not just be an outfit with a picture on it. That would be a school dress and a nightgown for girls. I think to make these pony costumes authentic they should be a one piece with tail in the back, main on an attached hood with ears. Also wings on back if its a pegasus pony. Then a short face mask for the eyes that covers only the eyes so you get the eye look you want. Why can they not do this? Anything less just is not a pony. So its cute...but not a costume.

Personally... I think it's a pretty sweet take on the characters actually. You see a lot of fanart of non-human characters with their designs adapted into human and a lot of times it's really sweet. I love the humanized take on a MLP's design. Personally I think it's weird to have a two-legged person dressing as a quadrupedal animal o_O Especially ponies, as the G1/G3 costumes suggest..
