Good morning! I have my childhood collection of 27 G1 Ponies, Friends, and Fairy Tails, and I'm trying to decide the best way to get them new homes. I'll probably end up keeping a couple for nostalgia (leaning toward Parasol, Heart Throb, and Bibbs).

It looks like most could sell for $5-15, but if the expert opinion is $3 or less, I might do a bulk sale or put them in my yard sale this weekend. I think Baby Palm Tree ($50-98 on eBay??) and the Fairy Tails & Friends ($20?) are the only ones that sell for more. (Does Cutesaurus really sell for almost $150 on eBay??)

I also have some accessories like baby bottles that I think go with the twins.

Most are in good used condition (a little dirty and need hair combed), a few have marker/pen/discoloration. Please let me know what you think. :)

Yes prices are pretty high still. Cutesaurus, night glider, baby palm tree, baby beach ball, little whiskers, all are on the upper end (I.e out of my price range  ) The only thing with eBay is that if you sell elsewhere maybe go a bit lower. eBay can be high due to all the fees associated with selling there. Whereas posting them here you pay less fees. That said, there is a selling and pricing guide in the tutorial section.

Thanks for your feedback! I'm not concerned with getting eBay prices as much as just having it worth the time it would take to take all the pictures and then potentially wait months to sell online. I'd rather get them sold as quickly as possible before my job gets hectic again.

Hi and welcome to the MLPTP!

I can assure you that even pre-pandemic-inflation, every pony you have is definitely worth more than $3. ;) But the prices you're seeing in the Ebay sold listings are accurate, as its the collectors that ultimately guide the value, and we've had a huge wave of new collectors come into the communities in the past few years that have upped the competition significantly.

I think the quick and easiest route here would be to list each one on Ebay (or in an auction thread here, which we can arrange for you--and no fees!) starting at a $0.99 auction. That way you won't have to research prices beforehand--just run the auction for a week (or however long you want) and let the ponies live up to their values, and they'll be off to new homes in no time.

Alternatively, if you decide to try to get the most value for your ponies, you'd have to research prices and then list them for sale individually.

Let us know if we can help. ;)

Thank you! When you say action here, do you mean creating a thread in the Sell forum? I did a quick search, but didn't see an example of any.

Yes, it's actually something that hasn't been done here in a while, so we can help you define the terms of the auction and with running and managing it.

Terms would include things in the post like:

Kirsten's Pony Auction

Start and End
Auction start date, time, and time zone: _________
Auction end date, time, and time zone: _________

Pricing and Payments
All prices are in $USD
Payment accepted through: Paypal

Shipping:
Shipping is available to (international / domestic)
Shipping starts at $5 per pony. Combined shipping is available

Bid Increments: ($1, $2, or $5, etc)
^ A bid increment is how much a person must bid above the current price

There are reserve prices: (Yes / No)
^ Reserve prices mean that if that amount is not met, the item will not sell. No reserve means that whatever the high bid is, the item will sell for that amount.

Then you would want to list and provide photos / conditions of each pony up for auction, similarly to how you began this thread.

People will comment with (Pony name): (bid amount)

At the end of the auction, the mods will help you keep track of who has won. The winners will then send you a private message, and you can arrange for payment and shipping. Be sure to provide a tracking number just like on any other selling platform.

Okay, lol, I'm willing to give that a go. I've sold via PayPal before, so setting up an invoice to send to winners would be very easy. I have some time today to take pictures of all sides and write descriptions, but no time for anything tomorrow. I can send you a message with the answers to the above information. What should I do once I have all the pictures? If everything is in one thread, since replies aren't nested, will it be a big jumble?

Also, this is probably in a FAQs thread, but do most people ship in boxes? USPS bubble mailers?
