Thanks to ilfiorelaluna's awesome post, and Shlugh's awesome help, I've uncovered some fonts that the G1 backcards/pamphlets/etc. use.

There are 2 that I know of so far, but I believe there are a few more to find out. If you want to do a search for other fonts, here's the resource I used: WhatTheFont : MyFonts

First:

The font you see used on early G1 backcard stories and on the name tags that came with the UK Snuzzle Grooming Parlor is called ITC Souvenir demi. See it here.

Second:

The font you see used as the names of each set (Rainbow, Unicorns, Pegasi) under the logo in a little ribbon, and on the name tags for the Pretty Parlor is called Devinne D Regular. See it here.

I cannot quite get the font for the early logo, I get ones similar to it, but nothing exactly like it.

I have not done a search for any other G1 fonts, but if you're into G3 fonts, check out this thread, it has a G3 pamphlet that the hasbro reps showed us at the 2007 Pony Fair.

More to come... on G1 Fonts... Uncovered, Exposed! :hysterical:

Thankyou for posting that. I am a font fiend - never have enough :)

They are really helpful.

hi

Wonderful now i can get things printed up at my work using the proper fonts. So cool.

:banana17:

Thank you! I've been trying to find the backcard font for years. People would tell me it's Cooper, and I'm like, "IT'S NOT COOPER!" I'll need to find that ribbon font, too.

I snagged the G3 backcard font from the first computer game. It's called Sinclair Script. IIRC, it was named FONT.TTI in the common files folder on the disc.

I'm glad everyone's finding it useful, I know I am.

So I tried to find the fonts of the early G1 logo and the later G1 logo (Where they used all caps and the Ys didn't look as cool) and I cannot find anything like them. Well, some fonts are close, but not exactly. I think one of the ones that was close was a form of the Cooper font. But I'm starting to think the reason I cannot find it is because it's not a font- it's a logo, so naturally it won't always be a typeface. It's probably an artists' rendering of a font, but changed up quite a bit. It'd still be cool, but oh well.

There are still plenty of G1 fonts to discover- such as the Petite Pony logo font, some of the international backcard fonts, and others. I'm up for the challenge, but I think the two above are the most identifiable as G1 fonts, so it might not even matter!

Claire, Have you tried. dafont.com ?

storybook is similar.......... I have a bunch of Adobe fonts, let me see if I have that one you mentioned

Awesome though that youve matched up those others......

We all can make our own pretty parlor replacement tags....

Neat website, I didn't know about that one. It looks like you can download some fonts for free, so if no one has the G1 fonts, they might be able to get them from there.

I might find something else there, thanks for the link.

Hey, SS! Do you think it'd be possible to get those G1 fonts in our list of fonts here at the board that you can use when you're in "Go Advanced" mode? That would be awesome!

Thanks for sharing! :)

How neat! That's awesome. I wish I had those fonts on my computer!

Ohh, that makes sense! I wonder if they people can find those fonts as free downloads. I'll try to find that out next.

Updated the first post because:

The first font (backcard font) was used for the UK Snuzzle-release Grooming Parlor name tags, but not for the US release Pretty Parlor name tags. The second font Devinne D was used for the US name tags.

Is there a way to get those fonts for free? I'm totally broke right now, but I've been searching for those fonts FOREVER!! Thanks for sharing your findings!

Yeah, I don't think I'll be buying that. I love it, I just wish I could download it for free. I'd maybe pay a couple of bucks for that, but not what I think they are asking for it.:wow1:

How is this?

Looks great! Hehe! I love to see my name in that font.

If you don't have the font, an alternative to using it would be to click on the link in my first post called "see it here" and you can type in something and take a screen print of it and color it in an image editor.

Haha, that looks awesome! Are you going to make some replacement name tags?
Do you have the other font too? Because I had to revise my first post- I mixed up the fonts. The US Pretty Parlor name tags were the second font on that list- the Devinee D font, not the Souvenir. But the UK Snuzzle Grooming Parlor name tags were the first font- Souvenir.

Either way it looks awesome! I love it. I'm tempted to make my other ponies some name tags.

And you hand drew those symbols? They look really good for hand drawn! Do you have a talent you haven't told us about? ;)

cool! i hope someone can locate a free download.

Hi, I wanted to thank you for this thread. I've been playing around at a online sign shop. I'm trying to get an idea how I can do my lettering on my car. I found a font on there almost exactly like that first one you posted!
