Hey! I saw a FIM Train set at Toys R Us yesterday. Has anyone else seen this? Apparently you can buy the additional train cars separately and add on to it.
Oh my goodness!!! PLEASE tell me this is one of those wooden sets that you can hook onto other wooden sets and not some weird set that is completely on it's own. The girl already has several of the wooden sets so if there are pony cars that can ride on them, I am SOOOO all over that!!!! ACK!!
Actually, I just bought it from Walmart today. It is -not- a wooden set.. it's its own set that you can buy two extra cars for it, from the picture on the back.It comes with a Pinkie Pie, and 7 piece track, so probably not enough to put under the Christmas tree.
I was looking at the train/track/set and the extra cars (Sweetie Belle and Fluttershy) at TRU... the track seems awfully small. I get a feeling that the train would get stuck around the corners, or the cars will fall over or otherwise get stuck trying. Looks like a pretty poor design. Not buying this for myself, or for my daughter for Christmas(even though she loves trains. She is getting Pinkie Pie's RC car. Surely Pinkie has enough vehicles at this point?
I would like to hear from people who have deboxed it and set it up, though. Curious if I am right or wrong about it.
@FairlyVanilla: Check Toys R Us. They're there in Ontario, could be in other provinces as well.
It would have been real awsome if this was a wooden train set. Then Thomas the Tank Enging and Freinds cold play with My Little Pony! But no, Hasbro would probably need permision from the other train toy companies.
There are several different companies who all make the wooden tracks, they just each put their own spin on them (some are double sided, some aren't, some carve in the tracks, some are just smooth) but they all interlock together. They totally could have done the same and made something totally awesome... but no. Plastic crap. I'm totally disappointed. It's cute, but that's about all I can say for it. Booo-urns.
I'm really excited for this Train Set! I've been eying it since it started appearing in the promotional fliers that come with the ponies! I'm hoping that there's a way to get additional pieces of track for the train to run on, so that you can feasibly add a bunch more cars to it! I'll go out looking for this today!
