In short, BAB did a survey over the summer about the interest of parents/children in getting mane 6, Spike or Celestia bears. The turnout was good enough that there's going to be FiM bears at stores in the spring. We don't know yet which characters, what accessories or what (if any) voice boxes will be stocked as well.

The BAB FB page will update with new information as it's ready to be released.
 
OMG! So cool! Looks like I will be spending some money there!! I hope it's the actual ponies, not bears inspired by MLP.. but that would still be cute too.
 
Yeah i would not want mlp bears :s But ponies would be pretty cool :)
 
That's so neat! I've only been to BAB once as they don't have them in Australia (not where I live anyway) and it was amazing. I made a little greaser Bear. He's a bit like Danny Zuko in bear form.

If they are ponies I'll have to get someone I know in the US to go build one for me (and film themselves doing the ritual hahaha). On the FB status the guy did day MLP bears though (but some people refer to any stuffed animals as bears).

I have never actually been to a Build A Bear because it never interested me, but its neat they are getting FiM characters. However, I still probably won't go unless they add G1 ponies = )
 
They call all their plushies "bears" and they almost always are in the basic teddy bear template. They're "standing," have a head with two stereoscopic eyes, two arms, two legs, perhaps a tail. You can check out BAB's site to see. They've had sitting quadraped animals before, which might be what they're doing with ponies.

But I highly doubt it's going to be a BEAR. Though they might sell clothes with ponies on them for other plushies to wear.
 
I could imagine they might try to make a bear with a cutie mark and pawn that off as a "Pony" bear. I might try it if they are actual pony forms.

I love bab.... They have dogs, hello kitty, reindeers at christmas, etc. I have a dragon from there, so no, it will not necessarily be bears.
 
As long as they're in pony form I'm getting one :D
 
I hope they're not bears. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed with what comes out. :(

I think Spike might come out okay, though. He's got nice features for a stuffed animal. Not sure how the ponies will come out though...

I'm not sure how to feel about the nylon hair... I mean, at least it's stylable, unlike the cloth strips, but if you styled Pinkie's I think she'd have a tiny buzzcut-looking perm. :surprisepony: Not much hair there!

I hate to say it, but I might want one.

Pinkie pie doesn't look like she has enough mane hair, but it works for RD.
 
Oh dear. Looks like I need to save more money. I do hate going in those places because there are always screaming children, but maybe I'll be able to handle it for ponies with brushie hair!
