Hi everypony - greetings from Texas!
I loved My Little Pony as a young girl but hadn't touched or thought about a pony since G2 came out in the late 90s. My boyfriend is actually responsible for restoring me to the MLP fandom - he got me hooked on the MLP:FIM show and proceeded to gift me with the first pony I'd received in years, a fashion style Rarity beautifully wrapped up in pink paper, topped with the biggest, pinkest, shiniest bow in the history of everything...
Of course, I felt a soul-deep *squee!* of inexorably, absurdly, wonderfully childlike joy. The resulting flood of nostalgia left me digging through my closet for the childhood ponies I'd loved and kept, some throughout the entirely of my life. I wondered if it was time to let go of them, but I had so many memories wrapped up in those multicolored vinyl bodies. Crimped lavender hair from braids a baby sitter twined together two decades ago. Magenta colored hooves stamped with the year of my birth. Smudged patches of body glitter and faded pink manes of ponies I played with on the beach as a child. Stuffing ponies in my backpack to show off at school. And perhaps most importantly, a smudged white pony - always my favorite - given to me by my grandmother before she passed away, something that would endure as a reminder of her, indelibly stamped upon my mind forever.
I realized that these ponies were magical time travel devices, enabling me to remember some of the happiest moments of my childhood. And after I began restoring them, fixing up long neglected manes, and started acquiring new ones.... another revelation hit me:
Hey - they're still FUN!
Fast forward, I have gotten back into casually collecting ponies, so I decided to join the trading post and reach out to other members of the MLP community. I don't have a very extensive collection, but I do have a handful of G1 and G2 ponies in excellent condition - the pride of which is Gardenglow, the pony my grandmother gave me in 1992. :smilepony: I'm slowly building a modest collection of the new G4 ponies, though I feel they're a far cry from their predecessors.
Sorry for the book, but I really wanted to share my MLP revival story. I look forward to meeting other pony fans on the forum and learning a lot - friendship is magic don't you know!
