What were some of the fashion statements, or if your still a kid/teen some right now?

I'm kinda fashion unconscious.

I remember earrings connected to nose rings by a chain. It looked cool but didn't last long. One friend got hers removed...forcefully...in a fist fight.

Cholla girl style, flipped and teased bangs, shaved and penciled in eyebrows, bleached an orange blonde. I never understood the eyebrow thing. Well at least you don't hafta pluck em I guess. Maybe that was the point?

As a teen I remember when dabbing glitter on your face was in.

I loooved Jnco jeans. They were ridiculously huge but super comfy, plus you can just two sodas, entire packs of mini candy bars and licorice for the movies. Lol

I also remember when bomber jackets, camo pants and dog tags were a big thing.

I adore doc martens.

As a kid I liked BK sneakers.

I was a late 90's teenager and while there were many different fashion style I tended not to follow a lot of them. I do recall a few that were popular.

Baby Doll Dresses these were very popular and while I did like them I HATE dresses and I always wore mine over jeans. I had two my favorite was red and had roses on it.

Tee-shirts and flannel shirts over them or tie at the wait. I did wear this style

Bomber jacket's I had a tan one with a map inside it.

Jersey of a Football Team. I wore my miami dolphins dan marino 13 proudly I had a hat and Jacket to go with it.

Gap Jeans were all the rage when I was in High school I did not like them.

American Eagle was 2nd best these were what I like as they were more comfortable and while still not cheap tended to hold up very well considering all I wore was jeans.

Stuffed animal backpack purses. I had a turtle with a red hat. I still have him but he is a pillow now. I have a funny story that goes along with him if anyone want to hear it.

Combat books and High tops

News boy hats or hats with flower were popular

Sunflower anything was popular

Clear shoes were a thing for awhile

wearing Hospital pants was popular for a year. I wear these they were pretty comfortable.

Jewelry at last for me was any thing with dolphins whales, snakes, Lizards, or Egyptian or Asian symbols on it. Mickey mouse watches or anything Winnie the poo was very very popular in my school.

Environmental shirts were popular too.

Umbro shorts and shirt were popular they are sports brand.

Pretty much if you didn't wear blue jeans like everyone else you got picked on

My body type rejects jeans at all costs and I need to wear leggings all day everyday at all times at all costs
With skirts and tunics of course

Other than that those hilarious butterfly hair clips were a fad, spraying your hair different colors
Tommy Hilfiger, JNCO for a few brief years

I forget the rest of the annoying brands

Ohh I haaated baby doll dresses. Xo

I got picked on cause I wore it as a shirt not a dress. I think I was going for the tuinic top you see today.
I hated the pleated skirts with the gold pins.

I had to spend two years in heck I mean privite Christian school and you had to wear dresses. Pure torcher for me. Plus the bullying was worse. But I hated those skirts soo much more after I had to wear them everyday.

Well, ha ha this is fun. I grew up wearing crop tops all summer long as a child. Dresses were worn more often than they are now. They were low waist dresses with little short skirts. Or really long dresses to the ankle. We used headbands a lot. Ruffled tops were in. Cute animal t-shirts or T-shirts with words promoting how you wanted the world to be like Peace, Love and stuff like that. Go go boots and knee highs with pom poms. Then as a pre-teen Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were really big. We worse bands around our foreheads and leg warmers. Izod shirts were big too. Rock music, sleek sunglasses and rock band t-shirts, rainbow everything, low cut socks with pom poms on the back, ribbon barrettes, big earrings and chunky jewelry. Then for high school, banana clips, hair combs, twist beads, add a bead necklaces, Liz Claiborne (can't spell) purses, parachute pants, cargo pants, over sized button down shirts, British T's, neon colors, big hair styles, vans, lace gloves and that Beverly Hills perfume whatever it was called, stirrup pants, pin stripe jeans, big hoop earrings in loud colors, heavy make up, big sweaters, and big chunky belts. There was the crowd that wore plaid, expensive sweaters and fancy pants and skirts...then there was the crowd that wore leather and chains. Oh and we can't forget the hair of the punk phase either. I typically wore mini skirts and sweaters, t-shirts and jeans but loved the big hair and big jewelry.

When I was still in school people had overly expensive clothing that cost 100 dollars a shirt or at one point they all had jeans with the knees torn, I didn't pay much attention to fashion tho this is just stuff I noticed.
When I was younger I wore a bomber jacket with the map inside, then when I was a teen tell I got out of school I wore an old dark green army uniform jacket that had only one private's chevron when there was supposed to be one on both sleeves, other wise I did nothing fashion related.

Ah, youth! I remember wearing the babydoll dresses with torn fishnets and combat boots, heavy eyeliner and dark red lipstick LOL Or the JNCO jeans with a band tee and an open flannel overtop....drove my parents nuts!

same thing I was in high school the girls with the huge big hair o_O and the bangs that were like a tall sky scraper. Giant hoop earrings. giant baggy pants. I remember chokers for necklaces I used to think they were so cool lol. I remember the very short daisy duke shorts we used to wear in summer. Baby doll Tees I used to wear them alot. Plaid and overalls ect.

Is it just me or has society lost a fashion sense for a decade now days? I mean really there isn't anything that stands out anymore as an in style type fad thing. I watched my nieces for that and couldn't find anything all that unique in their wardrobe like in decades past. I went into a high school not too long ago and saw a girl with a bra on and something that looked like a shirt hanging by threads on some part of her body not covering anything. It wouldn't be my kid I am telling you that. Nope.

I don't think my fashion has changed much sense high school. Still Jean tee shirts and tee- shoes.

I bind my chest so during high school that was fun. Compression shirts were expensive so I had to wear under my tops those tight fitness shirts and a body wrap thing. My mom hated that.

Now I just bind or compress with the proper shirts.

Grunge pants...(my grandmother tried to get me to buy cheap pants at the thrift store, then rip them up and sell them for $50 bucks each....) and goth stuff. Everyone who was anyone shopped at hot topic and had as many piercings as their parents would let them get away with.

Me? I was super boring. Mom jeans and a t-shirt.

I feel like leggings and skinny jeans are trying to hang on for dear life....but most people are ignoring them, lol.

Hammer pants!!!! And the huge hair sprayed bangs. (I can still remember the words 'hammer time')

Okay you have lost me what are hammer pants? LOL I have never heard of this ever. The huge sprayed bangs though is familiar.

What I don't like is the low waist line thing going on with pants.

Oh my goodness! I hate low rise! I'm very long waisted and normal pants are low rise on me. My daughter got my torso proportions, too.

Hammer pants were from the rapper/singer m c hammer. Can't touch this was his hit and he dances in the video in the pants. Elastic waist, loose, lightweight, with the crotch seam down by the knees. They were pretty ridiculous, but fun, too.

Oh okay, yea I am familiar with those that was after my school years. That is probably why I didn't know the name of them. I was looking at some old clothes on ebay and for the 1980's I noticed there was a big fad of Victorian style dresses for women. How odd. It is so strange how things get started. I remember these blouses we use to wear that had little tiny ribbon ties under the collar. I hated those things. I also remember being really embarrassed about what clothes my mom started buying me when I was 12. I was so tiny she had to shop in the girls department. I was wearing a girls size 10 when I was 12. Most of my friends were starting to wear Juniors stuff. Boy I was not fitting in with the crowd. So, I had to tell my mother that absolutely not was I going to wear knit pants and silly skirts anymore. I wanted Jeans and tops. I also remember telling her "quit fixing my hair mom, no one's mom fixes their hair in 6th grade!!!" ROFLOL So, I started doing my own hair. Turning 12 is so hard. It is a tough age because so much of you is still a kid, but you change so much. Your friends change too and all of the sudden everything is so different, emotions are all over the place, everything is embarrassing and down right difficult/complicated. I don't want to relive that year.
