Hey!

So lately, I have been wanting to customize some ponies! I have a lot of ideas, this one though is the only one that is actually planned out  I saw a G3 pony over at a thrift store behind my house, who had it's foot chewed, I am hoping it will be there Saturday (I hid it) so I can get her for $1.

The body colors are not final, when I paint him, he may be brighter. The symbol on his butt is Chinese for dragon. :) Does anyone know though if it's possible to put hair all the way down their spine like my drawing?

Yes, you can have hair all the way down the spine. You could root it like the normal mane but the easiest way would probably be to buy faux fur from the craft store and use that.

You can puncture plug holes on a pony just about anywhere on the body, I've even re-rooted real fetlocks on G3 customs I've done~ It would definitely be easiest with the re-hair tool.

I would either use a faux fur that you could glue directly on the pony or the rehairing method, but use a textured/coarse hair. I think regular doll/pony hair wont give it the look you're going for, unless you frizzy that baby up maybe.

Here's a nice example of rehairing that's been textured and teased:

Brushed out wool yarn would have a very nice organic look to it. If only my llama Beth would donate some fur. Her's is coarse with a slight curl and smells divinely of cedar. It really would look smashing used on a pony.

But Beth is not playing the shear game. She's made it quite clear. No haircuts in winter.

Yup, for sure you can make plugs that low on her body. I have done fetlocks on a G3 using the wire method but it was H-A-R-D and like Light said, definitely would be easiest using a rehairing tool.

I agree that some teased out wool would look amazing. You could probably buy a strip of sheep wool still attached to the skin and you could glue that on if you wanted to. You could do the same with faux fur, but I think the custom would look best with lamb wool (just my personal preference).

Thanks everyone for the tips! I will definitely have to do the hair last when I finish the pony up completely XDD But now, thanks to you guys, I have a lot of options I can go with! Thanks for that! :)

You could also root plugs for the eyebrows and beard, facial hair.

Here's some examples I've done of pony facial hair XD

Here's one with re-rooting repeated throughout various parts of the body:

Ganondorf here required eyebrows and beard much like your dragon might:
