G4 Does this warrant a slight refund or am I being silly?

Hello everyone!
Please tell me if I’m being ridiculous or not. I was second guessing even posting this because I was wondering “Am I embarrassing myself? Am I being a Karen?”

So, I bought a G4 Rainbow Flash from a French seller off of eBay. This seller had 3 separate listings of her, each with different pictures, a different price, and a different condition.
I sent an offer for the one specifically in the best condition. She was still a bit much, but I was willing to pay that amount knowing how hard she can be to find (for an even halfway decent price anyway), and knowing she was in great condition.
These were the photos the listing had:

The description of the item described it as “My little pony rainbow flash G4 used in great condition, (please see carfully the pics for more details).”

She arrived at my door yesterday. But when I opened it up, I noticed she WAS in good condition…except that mine had some little scuffs on the eyelashes on both eyes (and a little bit on one eye itself). This was not in the pictures.

I don’t know if this happened during shipping or if they sent me the wrong one or what. I think shipping is more likely because mine doesn’t really line up with any of the other pictures in the other listings. But I just don’t know if I would’ve paid the price I did if I knew she was going to arrive with scuffed eyelashes, even if they are only slightly.
Is this enough to bother the seller about? Is this worth a partial refund (it would be very slight) or am I being silly? Especially since there might be a language barrier. I asked some others about it and I’ve gotten conflicting opinions (some couldn’t even see what my problem was), so I decided to come here.

personally i would leave it be. it could be easily fixed by using a bit of paint over the area, no? still a bit weird the eyelashes were the only thing that had any marks though

I think it’s very clear this isn’t the same pony in the seller’s photos.

There’s several reasons, the first being in the sellers photos the pony has very obvious defect in her cutie mark. She’s also got a slight scratch in the eye on the display eye. She also has some vinyl on her rear end that isn’t in yours. Lastly, while lighting may play a part in it but yours also appears to have a bigger head/body mismatch than the one from the seller’s photos.

Was the pony packaged in any protective barriers like bubble wrap/tissue paper in the box?

I would suggest contacting the seller and voicing your concerns. In this case I do think you are in your right to ask for a partial refund, but I would give the seller the opportunity to make it right before you suggest any kind of compensation this allows you to gauge how easy it would be to deal with the seller with a “bad transaction.” I would suggest sending message in both English and using Google translate into French if your super worried about language barrier. If the seller’s a good seller they will offer an exchange, partial refund or complete a full refund and have you send the pony back at their expense.

I didn’t even notice some of that! But I see them now, thank you for taking the time to circle the discrepancies!

I also just noticed something else, the seller is selling another Rainbow Flash with the same exact pictures as the listing I purchased! I’ll definitely be contacting them now.

I was about to write exatly the same as @Skybreeze but I think the one you got has a better looking symbol than the one listed.. the eye thing can be super easily fixed.. so I would suggest keeping the one you got and just fix that small scratch of the eye... but that's just what I would do! Hope it gives you a different perspective, whatever you decide is okay anyways.

I say ditto to Skybreeze. it doesn't look like the same pony, plus all the hair stuck in the neck of yours. The photos clearly do not match. It's a little sketchy.

Don't google translate into French, I suspect that will make things worse. If you do run into language barrier issues, contact a French native speaker or someone who is familiar with it.

Thank you for the input everyone. I sent the seller a message with pictures. Both in English and in French (translated by a willing friend, not Google). Fingers crossed that the seller gets back to me soon. Even ignoring the issues in both my pony and the pony pictured in the listing, it’s just sketchy to send a different product than pictured. It’s just not what I agreed to pay for!

Google Translate is made to translate to all languages. There’s nothing suspicious about it. ;) I speak Spanish and French and have used it to help with some Portuguese. It’s an accurate and helpful tools for those who don’t have the base knowledge of different languages.

They could’ve very easily just mixed up the two if they were in a hurry to package your pony. It’s an easy mistake when you have multiple of the same pony for sale (it’s way I bag and number all my duplicates I sell). How was the pony packaged when shipped?

It was just at the bottom of an envelope, wrapped in some bubble wrap. Nothing I haven’t seen before, usually protects the pony well enough…

But it could have been mixed up! I don’t think mine quite matches up with any other listings they have up but they may just have more.

It was probably an error, but you can always ask. If not... The two ponies look like they would have the same value to me. Just going off of the pictures you posted. They both have small flaws..

I got a response back!

They gave me an address to return to, and they’ll refund me once they get it back. But I have to pay for shipping (with tracking). It’s not OUTRAGEOUS but I really don’t want to pay for shipping to France. May just end up keeping it after all.
I asked if it was possible to at least exchange but I haven’t gotten a response yet. I’m a little annoyed because I specifically asked if they sent a different pony and they ignored my question.

We love a question dodger. I had a guy tell me he knows he didn't mess up because he takes photos and videos of everything he packages, and he'd be happy to review the footage, but he's a very busy guy and had a lot of footage, so he would get back to me.

It will shock you to know that he didn't.

Try using it for Japanese...it will not work; only the most basic of words and even then you'd better off using specialized dictionaries. At times, google translate cannot even immediately recognize it is Japanese and not Chinese.

I'm Portuguese myself and have studied French although I am not even remotely proficient in the language. And I still do not recommend using it when you are communicating with actual people. If you do not know what you are saying- and have no one who can confirm it for you- then you are better off not doing it at all.

If you have google at your disposal, you can easily find a native French speaker who can help you. I guarantee the seller will prefer that too, even when google translate gets it right, it will not handle the grammar, syntax, for you.

I got my girlfriend to translate my message into French for me. She’s not a native speaker but she is very proficient. The seller ended up responding in English anyway but it was worth a try lol.

Hmm making you pay for return shipping when it was their mistake? That’s a bit suspicious to me  seems like they might think either you’ll keep the one they sent cause it’s too much work or they make the money on shipping, either way it works out better for the seller thath buyer. She does look nice though :)

Alright got a response back when I asked about just exchanging. They said it wasn’t possible. Not sure how true that is (they have another Rainbow Flash listing up…with the same photos. They probably just don’t have that specific one anymore huh) but I know eBay can be a pain.

If they were just trying to convince me to not send it back after all then it worked because now I’m just going to keep her. She is still a nice pony, and like some of y’all said, painting in the eyelash scuffs specifically is an option.

Now my only question is: what feedback should I give back to the seller on eBay?

Can you give neutral? It's been awhile for me on Ebay. Either way she'd only get one star and not much positive to say.

Yeah you can. That’s what I was thinking of doing. It’s kinda a “please do better” without the seriousness of a negative.

Edit: My mom is telling me to be more firm and direct with the seller. She says it was false advertising and I should be more assertive. Blehhh

Personally, I world let Ebay know by reporting her current listing.
