Do the g1 fans deserve the credit for the new celestial releases?

I’m quite curious as to what you guys think. So a few year back, I vividly recall there being a Campaign amongst the g1 fan community where they rallied to get the attention of Basic Fun to produce the fancy swirl/ Fairy Bright/ Celestial ponies. I spread the word myself through the Amino pony communities …and since they have been released, fortunately now, I wonder if that was due in full to the persistence of the g1 community. Thoughts?

I think it was G1 lovers as well as collectors of all generations that requested them. However, I'm not so sure "who gets credit" sounds like the most friendly way to discuss thier origins.

The point is they're here, and I'm super happy the community can now add them to thier collections!

Yes, same! I know it’s not really a concern as to who deserves credit or not, but it’s just been crossing my mind more often than not since the release, and I know the g1 fans played a large role in petitioning for them, so I just thought I’d throw the topic out there to discuss.

Being a long time fan of anything astronomy, I adore the celestial ponies, even moreso since one of my very first oc’s was named Polaris. I’m still debating on racking up more credit card dept to purchase them. Hahaha!
 
Fans of all gens bought the other G1 reproductions. The sales helped convince Basic Fun to make these.

So everyone gets credit.
 
Yeah, I think it was pretty much everyone who gets credit.

Fans of all gens helped by buying the re-releases, and it wouldn't surprise me if Basic Fun had learned about the demand for celestials through the pony community in general. The G1 community may have got the ball rolling perhaps, but I think many pony collectors chipped in.
 
I think just talking about them here, elsewhere, and clicking links also helped convince Basic Fun.

Isn't there some reboot beanie babies coming out? I bet there was, and still is, some bots scanning forums and social media to see what has enough interest to sell.

So...what do we need to talk about next so it gets made? :D

Lol yeah I heard about the beanie baby reboot, apparently they plan to do a movie too which sounds like such a strange idea :lolpony:

I know The Beanie Bubble adaption just happened but that wasn’t actually about the beanies themsleves

Yeah, I think it was the same people who did the emoji movie so probably not the best lol. It could’ve just been a rumor though, all I heard is they bought the rights to make it
No idea what kind of plot a movie like that would have though

Who knows? Maybe it’ll be a horror movie about that one playground rumor, where the beanie babies were stuffed with spider eggs instead of pvc pellets!

When xCanadensis saw the Celestial pony prototypes at a Texas toy show, the BF staff told her that they made the Celestial ponies due to the fan response. I think she said they specifically mentioned the letter campaign! Just talking about ponies on here (while fun) probably doesn't really impact the companies because message boards are so much less prominent these days than, like, Instagram or Reddit. (Although message boards are more fun IMO!)

But yeah, without fans contacting Basic Fun, I doubt the Celestial ponies would ever have gotten toys. BF probably wouldn't even know they were a thing. (Or, er, weren't a thing in the 90s. But were an idea, lol.) It makes the Celestial ponies even more special to me!

It's not humans looking. Any site with a decent amount of traffic has a bot scanning. Even your site. It's simple to just to have keyword counters.

There's bots skimming info off any prominent site. Whether it be for marketing or other data collection.
