Do people think you have no life because of mlp?

I'm sick of people calling me a sadact for collecting ponies and saying I have no life does anyone else get this? I'm 17 and nearly 18 and apparently I should 'grow up' too. And does other peoples partners get them ponies as my boyfriend has refused to he hates my ponies with a passion and we had a agument the other night that if we move in together my ponies are not coming so I said its me and the ponies or nothing!
 
Everyone is someone else's idea of a sad act, doesn't matter if you are the coolest person on the planet, you can't live your life by others rules it inhibits your creativity and brings you down, your b/f is like alot of b/f's all you can do is agree to dissagree, if you let others rule over what you should or shouldn't do you are letting them win.
Anyway you have lots of people who like you fine right here.

Yea, I've had it said to me in similar ways... 'nerd' and such.
And well, I am a nerd :lol:
I don't let it bother me.

Everyone has a hobby that other people aren't going to understand. They won't get how you could spend over $5 on a rubber pony.
I don't think it's childish in an 'immature' way.
It's childish in a nostalgic way. I am collecting ponies now, because I had them when I was a child. They make me feel like a kid again, they make me happy.

People collect Hot Wheels, Legos, action figures, and other children's toys.
There is nothing wrong with collecting something you love and have a strong interest in.

My boyfriend doesn't understand my collection, but he doesn't put me down for it.
He actually bought me a carrying case for them, and told me he planned on buying some for Christmas, but didn't know what ones I wanted.
 
Thanks for all your replies I actually just got off the phone from my boy friend and he mentioned moving in together and I will get my ponies there somehow lol He will wake up and find himself face to face with my parasol plushy! And you are right I am so glad I found mlptp! The people are all lovely and all love ponies some idiots just don't understand the thrill I get when I get a new G1 I end up phoning my mum from college to see if it came in the post lol Thanks again! xxx
 
Actually, people tend to think I have more of a life than most because I actually have the time to search the local Thrift Stores on a weekly basis... Occasionally I'll get the "You're 20 years old, grow up and sell them!" speech but for the most part people think it's cool that I collect.

I'm sorry people are giving you trouble about it, though... Try not to let it get you down too badly. :)
 
Bah! I'm 33 and like ponies and stuffed animals and video games and people can BITE ME!

Yeah.. ta heck with 'em. I go to work, I pay my bills, and that's grown up enough! What, are we all suppose to be boring old farts that watch TV and stress over our mortgages? Why the heck can't I play Everquest 2 and collect toys? If I can get a giggle out of a little plastic horse, why not.

I wouldn't put up with a guy who says I have to get rid of something I love or he dosn't want me. It's not hurting him! My guy is fine with it, as long as I don't spend all of our money on them. :p
 
Ianthe99 you set me in hysterics you're right to **** with them and my boyfriends my fiancee too *blush* he goes mad at me cause I spend my money on ponies its like a drug im addicted to ponies! He hates the way they just stare at him every moment and they are all over my room I've run out of space so he wakes up to 100s of ponies staring at him lol.Thanks for you're opinion everyone I realise I can make some good friends here!
 
Id dump him :| i could only ever spend my life and time with a boy/man who loves me for ME and who i am, ponies or not! i am a grand champion addict, and luckily my bofyfriend of three years usually buys me a bunch on ebay for my birthday and stuff, and we have donated a whole room of our house to them....which is overflowing...profusely...lol!

your all awesome! kudos to ponies of any type!
 
I don't know....isn't your boyfriend suppose to love you for who you are? It's not just you are a drug addict or other problems that are socially damaging. You are just collecting toys. And I normally find that friends and people who are accepting of pony collecting are normally the nicest people in the world too! I wouldn't give two crap about someone disliking for my ponies since they're probably people I can't be bothered with anyway.
 
Does your boyfriend have any hobbies that you can compare ponies too? My sister used to tease me all the time about my toys, until I told her that for me, buying ponies is like buying shoes to her. She looked at me, and it was like she instantly understood. lol.

Don't feel bad about collecting ponies. Lots of people do it, so you are not strange in the least bit for it. There are even books about collecting ponies in book stores! I wonder if your boyfriend is worried that he would be teased by his friends when they came over and saw ponies everywhere. It took my fiance a little while to get used to them too. He doesn't understand, and doesn't really like them, but he saw how happy they made me. Now he will pick up the occasional pony for me. Perhaps you can show your bf this site, and that way he can see that this is a hobby that boys, girls, young and old all have. Best of luck!
