Did anyone else see this sea pony lot end for $630.96?

No idea bunch of crazy ppl LOL Geez what would happen if I sold mine XD

Well I've noticed that sea ponies in general tend to get abit pricey, especially if they're in good condition.

Breaking it down the buyer paied about $25 per pony there. And while I've noticed baby sea ponies costing abit I've never seen them cost that much per pony o_O
But I'm no expert at sea ponies and there might just be a rare one in there to even it out.

I've done some bidding like that in my day. Usually most of the sets will get to about $16ish, some $25 ish bit collecting them bit by bit takes time, and this person gets them all in one go! :D I personally love lots like that.

Yes, I was wondering if it was the floats that was driving the price so high. They can be pretty hard to find. $25 a pony... still quite a bit IMO.

It's definitely the floats ,and the fact that you can split that lot apart and sell everything and make some money. I don't know if I would've ever paid that, but more in the $300 range would've been what I expected to see.

It's tax time, people have money coming in and they're spending it like crazy it seems. Prices on eBay have skyrocketed... meh.

I think it may be less the ponies which made it sell so high, and more all the floats...

Lol I was so busy counting the amount of sea ponies in the first picture I completely missed that there were more pictures with all the floats too :p

Yeh that probably uped the price. Still, $25 for a baby sea pony with a float is a tad too much IMO but hey, ponies are only worth what a person is willing to spend on them :p

$25 for a baby sea pony with float is NOT that expensive......for the early edition ones, yes....but anything after the pearly babies its pretty spot on. They were selling complete with comb and float for $35-$40. Since none of them have their combs, $25 is decent.
Trying to source them out individually would of cost more because of things like shipping, etc.
Maybey $25 each was a little high, only because some of them look like they are in kinda yucky condition

If I know one thing, its baby sea ponies!!! I wouldn't of bought it for that price unless I needed *all* of them still....but I am only missing one or two with the floats now! :)

Twinkler00 -- wow that's an old face! I haven't see you around in ages. :smilepony:

Which prices that high I won't be getting my hands on any sea ponies any time soon. I still need... seriously almost all of them. I have a feeling they will probably be the hardest to track down to complete my collection.

You must get on your desktop more often Twinks. :)

Lots of old faces online ^-^ Nice to see so many veterans return :)

Well ****, in that case I should sell my floats and seaponies! I dont recall ever paying more then $10 for a seapony and a float though.

These people with Dinero need to go bid on my auctions

Come to think of it, why are so many Sea Ponies so expensive?

I've been collecting Flutter Ponies and even the mail order one usually sells for about $30 but the Sea Ponies, especially the adult ones seam to sell for quite a bit, is it that the Sea Ponies are more popular so fewer people sell them?

The second edition Adult ones can not only be difficult to track down, but they are prone to many issues. Stinking like mildew, being filled with rust and mold, discolouring (even if never out of package) and having horrid hair. Two in the set have full fading pink hair, and Seamist has her fading pink stripe. So in good condition and complete some sell for quite a bit. If you'd like to get them for affordable prices they are out there, you just have to be a bit more patient and willing to clean up or restore a very gross or discoloured pony.

I paid between $75 - $125 per set with shells (sealed heads without rust/discolouration issues). Lower prices from bidding on worldwide shipping ebay auctions, higher prices from private sellers. About $15- $20 each at most for them loose pony only without shell sealed heads and clean inside (these were ebay auctions). Again, they sometimes get bid higher, but patients and they are easily found for better prices. :) Sanddollar & Hightide come up for sale the most and are the easiest to get at affordable prices. But yeah, ponies that need work as singles (no shells), I've watched plenty of ebay auctions that end around $15 for some of these girls.

The first edition adults um.... they are common, also prone to rust/mold/discolouring. for a set that needs cleaning you will not make much. I've managed to sell fully cleaned sets (involving removing the head, cleaning every spec of grime from the pony and removing any odors.) for about $30-$40. But I see them all the time for $7-$20 and without the shell I see them end for under $5 often.
