Help! I bought a lot on ebay and got So Soft Best Wishes pegusus and she is missing alot of flocking on her wings, should I just keep her as she is, since she's pretty tough to come by - or should I deflock her?

I also got a So Soft Bouncy and a So Soft Shady that have alot of missing flocking. I already have a Shady in really great condition, so I was wanting to resell her... but to deflocked ponies have a resale value? What about Bouncy? She's a mess, she's missing half her flocking.

Ideas? I don't think it's possible to restore them since the issue isn't rehairing, it's loss of flocking but if you think it's possible to fix the flocking, I'm all ears. Anyone? They look like Taz got ahold of them!:taz:

I actually think you can put new flocking on ponies...
I'm looking for a site that sells it, I'll brb when I find it...

None of those ponies are all THAT hard to find. You can safely deflock them, and yes, deflocks do have a value. Some collectors will pay nearly the same price for a deflock as for a NM flocked one. Just depends on preference.

I could deflock them for you if you wanted. :)

As far as reflocking goes, I'm not sure if it would have the result you wish. The flocking you can purchase like thebeth gave a link for seems to be shorter. It may not blend in with the original flocking. I had a friend use it in college and it really did not give the plushness of a So Soft In my opinion, just a fuzzy covering.

I am one of those people who would take pretty bad flocking over deflocked most times. That being said, I have two deflocks in my herd. One (a Bangles no less) came to me and most of the flocking was still in the mailer when I took her out.

(That was her 'good' side)
All that was left was some globs of the glue and the fuzz on her legs. More came off when I tried to clean her up a bit. After taking pictures and asking around I decided to deflock her. She looks great now and I am glad that I did it. She was one that was staying in my herd though. I marked her off my list and am no longer looking for a fuzzy one. But something to keep in mind is once she is deflocked...she is naked forever. Take some time to think about it and if she is one that you want to sell you can try to sell her as is, If she doesn't sell for what you want that way, you could always deflock her then.
Hope my ramble helps you in someway.

I'd deflock them. Some of them look so much better that way. I've decided that I'd like a deflock collection since I have several already. I'd only deflock them if the flocking is really discolored and missing. Also preferably if I had a good flocked one but in the case Taffy here, she just had to be deflocked

I've seen a deflocked Best wishes, she looked great:D

Hmm. I've neve deflocked, but angel_rose's post makes deflocking look like a grand idea! ^_^

I adore So Softs (as you can tell by my name), however, when you have a really terrible looking So Soft, sometimes they are worth more deflocked, and they look better too. Although I do like the way deflocks look, I like the way missing-flocking So Softs feel, and they're almost impossible to come by in great condition these days, so personally I'd keep a badly flocked one rather than deflocking, but it's up to you.

I will say this- it has been known to take practice to get deflocking down, so if you've never done it before and you plan on selling, I'd suggest hiring someone else to do it, or practicing on a really baity one first, in an area without a symbol or eye. Just my 2 cents... :)
