Hi there,

I am loving the custom Plushies talented members are making. For someone who has difficulty sewing a button, I find the variety of Plushies absolutely gorgeous. *more, more, more*

Is there a pattern everyone is using, or (I shudder to suggest) have people been cutting up Plushies they buy to make a pattern?

I so loved the g3 and g1 Plushies but don't see any being made. Is it because no one likes them, or it is easier to buy a g4 pony from the shop and make it into a pattern?

Bring on the Plushies!! :cc:

I just got a pattern to make a G1 plushie for myself. I can't wait to make her. Its going to take me a while though. I have all the yarn for her hair. My biggest issue is I am not sure what fabric, fur or whatever I should use to make her. I looked today at fabrics and I couldn't decide what would be best. I had all these plans to make several and I can't even make one yet. I don't know why people are not making classic G1. I personally like G1 to stay G1 and don't want a G4 style with a G1 symbol. I am sure others make them, maybe they show up at the pony fair.

Oh, AnitasMom makes lovely G1 plushies and I have like... 6, now! LOL! I'm not sure if she is a member over here on just on the Arena. Found a link to her sales: http://s822.photobucket.com/user/Anitas_Mom/library/FOR SALE?sort=3&page=1

And here are some pics of the ones I got from her...
Sea pony and shell (AMAZING!), Chief with hat and bandanna, Night Glider

Here you can kind of see a baby sea pony with floatie and Tex! I need to take individual pictures. Skeen made the G4 style Bowtie and she is the softest thing ever!

As far as patterns, I don't *think* people have been cutting up toys to make their patterns. I do know there is a pattern for the 3' G3 plushie that was made from a badly damaged Frilly Frocks (I believe it was damaged in a fire, if I remember correctly). I have a copy of this pattern, but I've never used it due to the amount of materials needed and the size of the finished product. I would like to try it out one day...

Otherwise there was a vintage G1 pattern made by Butterick. I used the Butterick pattern as a starting point and redrew it with some of my own modifications.

As far as G4 plushies, I don't know much about the patterns that people use for those.

foofoo, you will get your wish here shortly - I have a 90% finished Whitecap in my sewing cabinet. ;)

tulagirl - the fabric most people use is either fleece or minky/cuddle.

I use patterns by dollphinwing on etsy, though I edit them a bit so that they either make more sense to me or look more to my tastes. I tend to make my own patterns for hair and I either buy or make my own embroidery files. I have a Butterick pattern (courtesy of AnitasMom, who is the best) but I have not used it yet. It's more complicated than it looks! I also have the giant G3 plush pattern and the smaller pajama sized one but I have only attempted the giant one and it was daunting.

I make plushies in a G1 style. After a 5 year hiatus I'm firing up the sewing machine again.

Tulagirl - I'm sure when you get started it will flow for you and they will be amazing.
Aadra310 - Your plushies are lovely. Thanks for the link to her sales page.
evilbunnyfoofoo - Yes, Skeen certainly is the "queen supreme of plushies!
KitKatVintage - Thanks for the link to your plushies page. You make some gorgeous G1 styled plushies! At least the damaged Frilly Frocks was able to help all you talented sewing people out in pony land.
Skeen - Can't wait to see your finished Whitecap. I love all your custom plushies! Have you only ever made plushies in the G4 style? Thanks for the link.

All my ponies are in storage. So I thought I'd unearth some of my G3 plushies. They are all originals, no customs....but still gorgeous.

Thanks @Skeen!

I love the sea pony. I have never seen a handmade sea pony. She needs to make more of those. I would buy one! LOL

There werent any G2 plushies - the nearest we have is beanie ponies. I forget who made them, but it definitely wasnt TY (unlike these days). There were 3 made, and I have one. They were quite hard to find - hence why I only have one, and even then it was found secondhand.

I must say that I prefer g1 plush.

Oh, I remember buying those G2 beanies in the stores! :) There were at least 6. I had Ivy (green), Sundance (pink), Sweetberry (lavender), Dainty Dove (white), another white one, & a yellow one whose names are escaping me. I had a 7th one that was an error pony (hair of one white one combined with the symbol of the other). Unfortunately I sold them all a long time ago. :(
