** Culture Swap 2013 ** Complete !!

May I kindly ask how much everyone paid for shipping? I had to pay 42 dollars and change for internationally shipping a mere 6.5 pound package. I was quite upset about this. Did anyone else pay as much? :( I am asking because in the future it may prevent me from participating in many swaps. It bugs me because I love to do them, but I will only be able to do domestic trading parts of swaps from now on.

MLPMommy, I ship to Germany a few times a year and thats about the rate I normally pay. I guess the key to shipping international is to try to ship lighter items? Lol

That really sucks it cost so much this time. The key to international shipping is to keep it light.

I thought 6 pounds was relatively light! Lol .... lesson learned.... but I like spoiling my swap partners, which is the bummer in it all. I'll compare it to ups next time.

I think you paid the same rate that I did, yours is heavier but I figured out that if mine had weighed as much as yours, it seems it would have been the same price.

I suppose it's true that lighter items are better for international orders.

I shipped a box to the UK for a swap i hosted on the arena - it weighted a little less then 4 pounds and cost $40. The USPS massivly jacked up international shipping prices by 60% in January. In comparison, the package I sent for the X mas swap on here cost a little less then $20 and it went to Germany.

IF i remember correctly, the participants in my swap that shipped internationally - almost all paid about $40 to ship regardless of where they were shipping to and from.

its about $10-12 USD to ship ONE adult pony internationally :cry2:

And I shipped as well but forgot the card, as always :( partner should be able to figure out who its from based off the "culture" items included. That and they probably have my address memorized by now...

I am excited to see who will receive their box first and start our swap brag. :LOL:swaps are always so much fun!

I totally forgot to post when I mailed out my box lol but it's mailed!!

I know - international shipping can be much expensive...
I always have to deal with it often - but I LOVE swaps and I'm okay with it.

But one point is also that the shipping costs are expensiver in the US and in the UK since a few month... I also notice that on a few ebay items....postage is much expensiver and I must think twice if I order something from overseas...

But I hope that all doesn't stop our fun in swaps!!
Maybe it helps to add not that much heavy candy or heavy extras in the boxes to keep the costs a bit down. :)

Well long story short - I guess the first boxes will show up soon.
I opened a brag thread for us alraedy where anybody can post their boxes:

Oh my gosh...loveee the owl wrapping paper!!

That is the cutest wrapping paper, Zaradess!

As for shipping, I paid around $20+ and it's going internationally but not too far, and it was definitely not too heavy. I agree that international rates have gone soooo high this year it's unbelievable. I had tried to ship priority at first, but it was $50, so then I had to go with First Class :(
