what is your best advice for ponies having a bad hair day. I have seen wonderful photos of remakes. What is the secret to great hair styling.

I find conditioner and a slicker brush are my two best friends when working with pony hair-don'ts! I've had some ponies who have had matted hair so be it's looked like a beaver tail!

Tressemme conditioner and hair detangler works wonders. Brush when wet and keep brushing until it's dry.

Some people do miracles with curling irons and hair straighteners.

Lots of conditioner and lots of patience. Brush/comb carefully through the conditioned wet hair starting at the ends and working your way up. Don't pull or force the knots or you can damage the hair. Good luck.

Use way more conditioner than you think you need, like tons and tons of it. I completely drown my ponies' hair in it, gently comb, and let them sit for hours. When I finally wash it out it feels so silky. I've always heard metal combs (or brushes) are better for fake hair but I haven't been able to pick one up yet. I'm just very gentle with the plastic ones and leave more delicate hair (like ponies with remnants of factory curl) alone until I can get some metal ones.

Straw curls can do wonders on a pony but it can take a lot of practice to get right! I first attempted them in 2011 but just couldn't get them to work. I finally got them figured out to some degree recently and they look so nice, even if the curls aren't all uniform. A big marker wrapped in a plastic bag and taped up (so ink can't get out) makes a great tail curler.

I've also done the boiling water on some ponies with awful hair. I rub conditioner into and try to comb out all the knots working from the end up to the base, sometimes in sections if it's that bad and then once I get it all combed through if it is really dry and frizzy I'll take the hair with the conditioner still combed through it and gently dunk it in boiling water for a few seconds several times. Then style and let air dry. I've had pretty good success with this, especially on the plushies too.
