Chloe' and Hurricanes

I wish the armadillo where I lived stayed out of the road.
I hope the water goes down quick.
We in Alabama would be glad to take some rain off your hands.

Armadillos can carry what?

Oh okay I see yea, what I meant was everything is under water. If you have truck you can sometimes get through high water if it is a high truck. My parents only have low to the ground cars. So, they can't drive through the high water on the roads to get out of their city. Then the highways had high water in sections and they couldn't get down all the way they needed to go. They couldn't get off the feeder roads either as they were under water. So, it was a no go. They would have had to take side streets to get to the one highway that might have gotten them half way to my house, but sadly there is high water all around the exits they need to use. This is due to the fact it just won't stop raining and they had to open that dam thingy which flooded out a bunch of people that actually were not flooded. I feel that if you are going to demand that people evacuate you need to have special trucks to pick up the elderly and ill/disabled people in the area as well as, the people who have cars and can't get through the high water. They will come and get you if you are in distress, but they will take you to the shelter and not your daughter's house. Booooo but at least I know they are rescuing people and are in mom's area.

Yep it is true that you can get leprosy from touching an armadillo.

Ah. Sorry tulagirl, I guess I got confused when you said they ordered people to evacuate but didn't help those who didn't have a car? Or maybe I misinterpreted it.

I'm tired and my brain is super useless right now.

My brain is pretty useless most of the time! :) So don't worry.
@tulagirl I'm glad they saved the armadillo. Those have been around unchanged for so long. A genuine throwback to an earlier time period. I think they're fascinating.

I'm sorry you can't get to your mom. With her health you must be so worried. Like you needed more stress!

Yea we also have a curfew so if there is an emergency I won't be able to do anything if its past a certain time. Since we have no mail service I am worried about prescription delivery and when we will get mail again. Fedx won't deliver here and UPS won't either. As if things were difficult enough already.

They really should airlift her or boat her out. I thought that was standard for people needing medical care. My disaster experience is all with earthquakes and fires, though.

Right now mom is okay. The levee is holding so their street has not been affected which is a huge and wonderful answer to prayer. Mom is having a lot more complications from the cancer though and things are not going so well there.

I'm glad to hear they can reach her. We'll send up a prayer for her health.

The flood has been so devastating, watching them organize just a group of guys with boats and performing rescues is so wonderful to me. As bad as things are, so many people are risking their lives to help. It makes me so proud.

I'm glad your mom is hanging in there, tula! She is a tough gal, she'll beat this!

Mom is a tough gal. Her biggest problem is the typical filling of fluid issue follow breast cancer surgery. Then the site got infected where they removed lymph nodes under her arm. She has a lot of pain, but I did tell her that I read a lot about this online and many women go through this she is not alone. That made her feel better that it was something that can happen. I was honest with her that it can take months to get better and some do not get over it. She would not be that person though as too many prayers were going up for her. Today she is at the hospital getting drained again. They may have to do surgery to put in a drain for her. Ugg none of us want that. The whole thing is just made more difficult by her cognitive issues and inability to remember things and take care of herself properly. She is trying.

Okay so both of those things scare me a lot besides tornados. I can't imagine having my entire world shaking and falling on top of me. Yikesterfic horror of all horror. Nope not me.

I wonder if they can't see well. I am trying to remember. Perhaps that is always why they are road kill. Poor little guys. What a life.
