For a kid, the names on the packages of toys rarely stick. I wasn't super creative about it, but this here was my friend Balloons:

I bet she wished her name could just be Surprise, which is so much prettier! :surprise: I loved her so much, though, my grandmother's cat was also ended up being called Balloons!

What were some of your ponies' names when you were a kid? Let us shame our ponies with their silly childhood nicknames!

Someone must’ve told me Medley’s name when I got her, but not knowing or understanding that word at the time, she was always Melody.

And I had three sets of newborn twins, Big Top & Toppy, Dibbles & Nibbles, and Sticky and Sniffles. I didn’t know their names until I became a collector and I have no idea what I called them as a kid. Though I have a feeling they didn’t play a big part in the storylines since protecting the babies and the “babysitters” - Seashell, Blossom, Peachy - from danger was what I mainly remember.

I called her Heart Sparkle - I was so surprised to learn it's Star Flash - which makes NO sense! Especially because there's another SHS with glittery stars!

I had these 3 G3 ponies as a kid

Strawberry Swirl: Strawberry
Seaspray: Ocean
Breezie: Apple

my mom came up with these names, not me because I would’ve just named them the color that they are because I was uncreative when I was 3

I wasn’t quite as young when I got her (I think I was around 14) but I got that anniversary set of Snuzzle, Blossom and Minty but being a g3 kid I already had a Minty and so there couldn’t be a second one lol. I renamed her Clover cause the name made more sense to me based on her symbol :) I still call mine Clover

I grew up watching the G1 show, while playing with G3 ponies, so a lot of my G3 ponies and fakies had G1 names. And I named a lot of earth ponies after unicorns, because I really liked unicorns, but I only had like 2 or 3, while I had a ton of earth ponies. Tbh, there are not that many G3 unicorns that were made into toys in general.

i only had G3s, and mine were pretty basic - Bubblecup was "Bubbles", Wish-a-whirl was "Pinwheel", and Coconut Grove was just "Coconut". i always remembered Sunny Daze, Sparkleworks and Star Catcher though.

Aww your signature is adorable, did you draw it?

We didn't have many My Little Ponies when we were young. Chap Meis were more our thing. I named my first one 'Daima', which ultimately became their species name  There was Boy Wedding Daima, Girl Wedding Daima, Daddy Daima (a Remco), Sweetie Daima (a Lanard) Rosy Daima (also a Lanard)...Our two My Little Ponies were Petunia (G1 Italian Parasol) and Diamond (G2 Easter Sky Shimmer)

Sweet Sparkle was "Lollipop," I think all my Divine Shines were literally just "Sparkle" except Tangerine, Butter Pop was "Popcorn" etc, you see a theme here. I still rename my ponies sometimes, like Sweet Stuff to Gumdrop or a repainted Up Up and Away to Pinkie Pie. I think UUAA has the worst name!

I don’t remember the exact name. But I do remember Tuneful was my boy of the herd.

I called my childhood ff 1982 Minty "Clover!" I loved her and tic-tac-toe so much! <3~<3
I always thought the jewel eyed ponies were the most magical! Lol
