Hi, I'd love some advice. I took the head off a G3 Brights Brightly to clean her. It didn't come off very easily but I managed to get it off. Now that she's clean I can't get her head back on? Any advice? I am worried if I use hot water to soften her head that it might trap moisture in when I put her head back on. Thanks!

It is very difficult to get g3 heads on sometimes. I usually try to “twist” them on: sticking one part of the plug in, and then pressing with a whole lot of force and twisting it until it goes in. Heat can help make the plastic softer, just be careful that it does not get hot enough to melt the hair or anything!

Hairdryer is a good advice.
Twisting as well, sometimes I'll "shove" the plug in with something hard as well.

I've heard you can use a hairdryer to warm up and soften the plastic if you're careful
My method which works on G2s and all dolls is putting them in a ziploc bag (to stop the doll/pony itself getting wet) then submerging it in hot water. Sometimes for me using a hairdryer has fried the hair so I find the hot water method safer!

That is.... SO smart........ I can't believe I never thought of it!!!! Have you ever had the bag melt? Idk why I just assumed Ziplocs couldn't be heated that much!

Nope!

So I’m in the UK and I know that some other countries don’t use electric kettles for hot water, but essentially the logic is:

Plastic used for things like ziplocs, freezer bags, plastic bags has a higher melting point than the boiling water (up to 100C but usually actually about 80C out of an electric kettle once it’s finished boiling and loses heat very quickly). So does the PVC ponies are made of and their manes and tails.

So the water won’t melt the plastic in the way hairdryers can burn mane and tail plastic!

Ponies can be submerged in boiling water if you don’t have ziplocs but it’s messier because…..well yeah they’re then wet and dripping boiling water all over you and your surfaces and you have to dry them back out. The bag makes the process a lot more mess free!

Obviously use rubber gloves and/or tongs don’t get boiling water on your hands

Not my photo but I got the tip from doll customising groups and it does apply to ponies very well

I'm going to try this out, thank you so much!

Ooo yeah twisting makes sense!
