Canadian MLP Fair

I doubt I could got but if you ever need help in the artwork department I'll be happy to contribute. :)

thanks CM, that would be wonderful of you. Once we figure everything out, we'll send you a message. :D

I believe we are thinking about having a contest to find our fair mascot here on the boards.

This is awesome news!!! I really hope this will work out for us Canadian's! I live very close to Niagara Falls :D

well, I think we would like to try and get something together for 2009, in which case it will probably end up more Eastern, but then for 2010, host it on the West side, so that we can accommodate everyone. We seem to be getting most of our feedback from Ontario and BC, so we will be taking that into consideration when figuring out location.

Oh sweet! I don't think I could make it to an Eastern one, but a BC one would rock!

(PS - if you do it in the summer, try end of July/beginning of August..... we have huge fireworks display here every year that runs every Wed. and Sat. for two weeks. It's called The Symphony of Fire, and literally thousands of people come to downtown Vancouver for it ~ it's a must-see for anyone visiting this beautiful city! And would be a great add-on for fair goers.)

oooOO fireworks!! I believe August is when we are thinking because we don't want to conflict with any other fairs that are going on. Because they are already more established, it won't really affect them when we have it, but it will definitely affect our turnout until we get a fair or two under our belt.

Well, pony peeps, I guess our minds and ideas have been connected together for the past few days. I'm saying this 'cause I've been thinking about a Canadian MLP Fair too! I would love to be part of the staff. I'll talk about it to Christine (from Ottawa). She might be interested too!
A northern Fair location sounds so great! I'm sure many people would like to attend: Canadians, Americans and other pony collectors from all around the world.
It might be possible for 2009 if we start working on it soon.:yay:

I think this post should also be put on the Arena: if the original poster agrees: I could post a link to this thread on the Arena (unless someone has already done it...)

Well, depending on where you guys have it, I could totally drive from where I live! And I wouldn't want to have to get a passport to fly, lol. There's an extra $200 bucks, heh.

Ditto for me, I'm mid MN as far as north and south is concerned, though I've lived here my whole life and never been north of the border. Would give me an excuse to go! hehe

a post is already on the Arena. I'm going to send you a PM shortly as well. :D

I would SO love that! I'm not too keen on Las Vegas, but I'd be happy to go anywhere in Canada!

Hey! Awesome!

If you need any help, let me know!

I am very involved in the convention community (well sci fi based) here in Toronto.
I know many people who can not only offer us advice on how to run it/make it kick butt, but can also give us tips on prime convention space.

Although I expect us to get a nice turn out, I think that some of the hotels here in the city will work great for what we'll need (it all comes down to having numbers before you can really know where/what kind of space you can get) but hosting it in a hotel makes it super duper convenient for those out of town to book and stay the weekend of the con :)

This would be an awesome thing to do/have! :D

We could carpool!

yay! that's the spirit!

I think it's a FANTASTIC idea! I've never been to Canada, so I think a MLP Fair would be a great excuse to go across the border and see our "neighbors" :)

Jenn I know you have alot of offers but if you need extra help let me know...

I'd be more than happy to help out if you need an East Coast person :)

A Canadian fair would totally rock! I'm all the way over in Vancouver though and would never be able to take the time off to go to the east, but I'd be thrilled none the less. Who knows where I'll be in 2009 and onwards anyways. ;)

I'd love to see a Canadian MLP fair! I'm somewhat surprised there isn't one already.

I love the idea of a Canada pony fair! I'm all the way over in Kelowna, BC as well (might be moving to the lower mainland in a year) and I don't know where I'll be finances-wise in a year or two but if I can manage it at the time I'd love to go. I vote for a big city, probably Toronto but Quebec would be really cool too.

Throwing a couple ideas out: What if it were to alternate like the MLP fair it could be closer East one year and closer West the next and alternate like this? Or East every two years and West every third? Probably East being Toronto and West being Vancouver? If not, hey everyone in BC/Alberta, is there enough of us to have a mini-meet in Vancouver or something? :)

*edit* also, I'll be in Vancouver this August for Anime Evolution the 22nd to the 24th and probably spending a couple days around the city after, if anyone wants to meet up for a day let me know^^

Hi

We need people from all over canada to join the staff.

Bittie if you wouldent mind covereing nova scotia and scouting out your area for places to host it and prices that would be great.

The same goes for someone to join the staff from bc and do the same thing.

I can find out the prices from quebec with eowynds help because i will have my baby soon, so i will need some time off to recoop.

Aqua can find out places and prices from her area.

I think alot of it depends on getting hasbro involved but even if they dont get involved, do you think we should still do it? I think so.

I'll start checking into things for sure. Halifax has ALL kinds of spots that would be great. Heck, we even hosted the G7 Summit a few years back, all kinds of world leaders were here. Plus, we have Theodore Tugboat ;)
