Can you save RIT dye?

I just bought a bunch of RIT dye and I was wondering if it's possible to put the unused dye in a jar and use it later? Has anyone ever tried this? Would it still work? Thanks :)

Do you mean the made up powder or just the unused powder?

Or could you be talking about the liquid RIT dye? I've used the liquid RIT dye a lot this summer, and I think if you keep it in a jar with a very tight seal it'll be OK, but if any evaporates, you'll be left with whatever color salt crystals, then I'm sure you couldn't use it again because the balance of chemicals wouldn't be right.

Bittie I use to put it in a jar seal it really tight and tip it upside down if the jar was air tight it was usually all right. For a few months anyway. Of course it was a royal pain to open again later and you had to shake it up like mad because it does settle again sometimes.

I reused it to dye fabric and never had a problem but the powder is much easier to store.
