Butterscotch Scrunchie Tag Removal Question

This might be a silly idea, but 2005 McD Butterscotch came with a little yellow scrunchie. It has a really tough tag on it a significant fraction of the size of the whole scrunchie. I want to remove the tag, but it is sewn into the seam of the scrunchie material. The tag is made of such tough material, I'm afraid if I just pulled it, it would tear the thread and ruin the seam. If I use scissors, it would leave a small strip of the tag there, which would look cheap. I mean it's free, came with a Happymeal, but I mean, I would rather it looked cute. Any ideas? Probably most people don't use the scrunchie, but I want to cause I want something pony-related while I'm at school tomorrow, being as it's Halloween and it's a non-MLP environment and such. I don't wanna be completely obvious, but noticeable to an observant MLP fan (of previous generations).

Worst case scenario you could try stitching the seam back up.
Otherwise, i dunno. I would just cut it down as far as i could. :)

I'm not exactly sure what it looks like. But I've used seam rippers to remove tags completely from plushies without damaging the plushies. They're little hooks with blades in the middle and you can just stab between the stitches and cut that tag out.

Thanks :) I wish people who made decisions about where to put labels and what kind of labels to use would take into consideration what the product they're labeling is used for.
