Wheeee! I finished my first custom last night! I'm so excited ^.^
So I plan on making some real customs here soon, but wanted to practice first. I have a bunch of fakies, so I thought I'd start experimenting on them xD
Ok, so the specs. Black Dahlia started life out as a rather scary Bratz pony fakie. She has these awful lips, these horrid yellow shoes... She's rather frightening.
Well, those shoes and lips were bothersome. I didn't know what to attempt to do with her. But then I thought... ya know, these could be kinda cute if I gave them a punkish/gothic twist. So that's where the purple/black color scheme was born. I knew she was gonna have big black lips, and that made me think "Black Dahlia." So her name and symbol were born.
She is a full body repaint, a mix of Apple Barrel and Folk Art acrylic paints.
And then the hair. At first, I was going to use the hair I removed from her - it was going to be super short, so I was going to give her a mohawk. But then, I remembered I had a really baity Cloudpuff - full of regrind - and she still had her tail. It was a frizzy mess, but there was much more of it than the original hair and tail of the fakie. So Cloudpuff relinquished her tail, which got a RIT dye job of black fading to purple. I rerooted her last night, and here is the final result. Unfortunately, not sealer, so the paint chipped around her neck - next time, I need to remember to leave it off when I paint. I had to remove the head again after painting. I may still style her hair, but I really think the poofy frizz kind of fits her, so I dunno.
So what do y'all think? Please give me contructive criticism! ^.^
