So I got covid like a week before my birthday, and had to cancel what mediocre plan I had... until I realized I could play Gartic Phone with pony pals, and I realized this idea was better than my original plan anyway. ouo
There were four of us playing - myself, @NovelNerd, @Mintyeon, and @Twinkle-eye, and at least half of us were tired and struggling to think straight. >u> We played quite a few rounds, all different game modes, exploring what the game had to offer. Unfortunately.... I didn't realize there was a download option until halfway through! Some masterpieces have been lost forever as a result, but I can show you some of what I did manage to save!
So first up is from our third round, since the first two were lost. We played Compliment, where the first person had an extremely short timer to make an initial sketch, and we each got a chance to finish it in our own ways. Mine was... a pretty terrible brooch lol. I tried to go for mardi gras colors right at the end and ended up making whatever weird thing I'd drawn look infected. xD;;
Everyone seemed to go for maps, or like top-down views for this one. ouo I saw the big red dot and could only think of Japan haha, so I made it into a rabbit in the moon illustration!
This one was Sandwich, where one person makes a phrase, the next person draws it, the next person makes a new phrase based on that drawing.... it would have repeated but Minty had to head off. c: Honestly I had no thoughts left in my head in that moment lol. so this was the only prompt I could think of. I was curious to see what kind of interpretation it would get and Novel did not disappoint haha
Next up I believe, was co-op! We each made one sentence, and then we all got turns to add to each of the drawings! This one's one of the funniest ones, honestly on my first turn with it I just didn't have enough time to make the edits I wanted to. I finished it off on my second turn with it, though! Not... very well, mind you, haha. I couldn't figure out how to turn spaghetti into a recognizable pony in just a few seconds. Basically I took one look at the prompt and at the existing drawing and went "This prompt is clearly saying that the pony should be made of spaghetti, so this image is backwards, but how do you eat 'spa'? I guess the existing pony can be named Spa"
I had no idea. ouo All I could think about was the sleepover scene in "Rainbow Rocks", where Sunset looks in Pinkie's fridge and asks "Who needs this much whipped cream?" before getting scared half to death by Maud. I couldn't remember Maud's hair color in the moment though ouo;;
For our final game, we played Icebreaker! ....Kinda backwards, I know lol. In this game, we each come up with a prompt, and then we all get a chance to draw something based on it, completely independently of one another.
This one turned out to be really wholesome and cute, unlike one or two of our other rounds haha. The ponies are Posty, Minty, and Bubbles. I wasn't really planning on having the recieving pony in my drawing... but I had time haha. I hadn't realized I would be drawing my own prompt so I hadn't planned for it.
The circus! And Argie Gingerbread having a clown phobia in the end haha.
I forgot which animal Flo was and ended up drawing a cat.... <u<;; But it's fine! The funny thing about this one is that, even though I ended up not saving them it seems, there were quite a few rounds with Minty and Applejack... Just so much Minty and Applejack! Even after Minyon had left haha. We just kept drawing Minty and mints.
And you wouldn't think it.... but I was actually using a tablet lol. It was a lot of fun! That was only my second time playing Gartic Phone, I like it better than a lot of the other free-to-play party games.
I also got a lovely birthday gift from Novel!
Though when I tried to say the pony's name, my dyslexia met my exhaustion again and I called her something off-the-wall lol, like Poltis or something. My own flubs aside, thank you, Novel! I've put her on top of my G2 puzzles for now haha, until I can rearrange my shelves and have all three of my celestial ponies properly together.
