I got a box o bait ponies frim ebay. I prefer to restore damaged ponies, but this one had a lot I couldn't undo. I am still uncertain as to the identity of this pony. It was either Sunlight or UK Confetti. The original colour of her eyes seems to be lilac, and she has stripe division notches in her hair line.

She seems to have been dyed, either once or twice. The white paint on her legs was textured and took hours to remove. The symbol seems to have been dyed into the plastic and neither acetone nor alcohol would remove it.

My usual hot water treatment for removing paint resulted in large plasticky bubbles. They popped like bubble wrap! Under this paint, her legs were paler.

This is Thistledown in her current state. The uneven dye job made me think of dapple greys, and the purple eyes made me think of thistles. The flower of my country.

Hope you guys like her :)

I would look at that in a bait box and cry, and then come here to beg for ideas of how to save her....you have done a FABULOUS job! Wow. Please send pix when complete!!
I have much worse ones in the box! At least this one has an intact neck and no holes etc! I think ponies can always be saved :) Though, if I ever find one thats a bit past my know how, I will either ask for help or send her to someone else :)

I am amazed by what can be done by others. I think I have a knack for this cos I love research and I love watching restorers and customisers. I am just fueled by all the others who came before me :D

Ah, the humble thistle! Absolutely beautiful!
I love all the white markings over her head and body. I can’t wait to see her finished!

Wow you've done an amazing job working with the colors you were left with!
I thought it would be easier to just lean into it, and it means she still has the personality she came to me with. :)

smart move!

What paint are you using? What's the brand?
Urm, the purpley one is a discount bottle my friend got me. Its called MP miniature paint, comes out nice and smooth. I think its english.
The greens and whites are The Army Painter Warpaints. They have good coverage but neex a dab of water.

What brand are you using? I got some deco art today to test those out.

I think it's Artists' Loft. Standard paint that's meant to go on canvas, lol. It's what I had and I didn't want to spend money. but seeing how bad it looks, I need to invest.
You only need three colours, extras are nice, but you can mix anything with red blue or yellow. A dab of art acrylics on top of that to add white or a bit o black, and you are golden. :D

good ol primary colors, lol. That's what I plan on getting!
Thats what I did today, it also means I don't have to spend ages choosing from hundreds of colours!
