Are you participating in the eBay strike?

Then don't even look!

It's going to be hard, but I'm not going to look either. I'm currently watching only ONE auction that I KNOW I'm going to bid on and then I'll be shiney. :tongue2: Luckily it's before the big strike.

I’m selling out and need this month to dump my stock of rares and collectible toys!

I’m grumpy about this because I want to sell out BEFORE the fee hike. I wish they had it afterwards because I think many people are jumping ship anyways. I’m afraid of not getting the bids I want if people will be truly striking and not bidding. Hopefully my stuff will be too tempting for bidders to stay away. I’ve got some really good stuff that I need to list and then I’m done. Hope eBay enjoys all the door slamming. Bah!
^!!^

I hate to be cynical and am all for supporting a strike on this one. But if ebay are really tailoring things to suit the big sellers anyway, won't a strike by small sellers only suit them?
I think you'd have to have a strike by buyers so it still affected the big time sellers (if they're the ones with more influence over ebay management that is).

I've spent my pony money for this month anyway, but will stay off ebay in support of you guys. I too would rather buy from here anyway! :tongue2:

Oh trust me...the big sellers are just as upset about this as we are. I've read PLENTY on the message boards on eBay to know. Many are planning on just leaving altogether. Everybody is trying to spread the word about this strike, so it's not just the pony people!! :)

Small sellers will be the ones hurtin' though. A HUGE seller can take a neg or two without it affecting their percentage of pos FB. a smaller seller that spells death.

The star rating could have been a good idea had people used them properly. It seems a lot of buyers expect their items to be warped in star trek style. I've bought a few things, and the postage label showed it was sent right away, but when I checked the star ratings that other buyers left the seller's only had around 4.5's o_O whah? how could you get any faster then something being sent right away?

I doubt the strike would work. what is going to work is people finding sources outside of ebay to sell their items. (I foresee a growing number of non-pony people signing up here for the sole propose of unloading a collection/lot of ponies so they can avoid ebay.)

I'm going to see how it goes, I'm not happy about the changes but maybe it will work out... if it doesn't then I'm going to go to mainly selling on the forums and on my website.

I'm striking. My store is shutting down late on the 17th. I won't be buying or even logging in. I'll probably spend my free time listing on a cheaper site or just saying "heck with it" and going to the flea market.

I won't be buying during that time.

Then don't even look!

I won't look but if something shows up from my saved searches... I may not be able to resist.

Just bumping this since it's coming up! It's gonna be SO hard for me to resist, but after reading up on all the new changes I really am upset. Sellers like me who might sell 1-2 things a month, at most are really getting the yucky end of the stick :( I'm just not even gonna look! That'll teach 'em *shakes fist*

Yes, I am participating in the strike. NO buying or selling that next week. I am not a big time seller, but would have liked to have been. With ebay's new fee structure, however, it will not be worth my time to try to get started with them. I am also not going to purchase through ebay from here on out, I will be contacting sellers directly about their merchandise.

Nixie

Ugh...eBay had me testing out their BETA site and I absolutely HATED it!! I have been using it for the past 2 days and opted out of it. I like to look at the 'completed' auctions and I couldn't find out how to do it. :icon_razz1: And I think they combined vintage and contemporary and there were over 8000 listings. ???? I really hope they don't change how it looks. I really like how things are right now.

i don't like the sound of any of this and will be sure to support the strike.

I'm supporting it. I have nothing for sale now and am not planning on buying anything. I am really not impressed with these changes and even though the cynical side of me doesn't know how much it'll accomplish, it's worth a shot.

Doesn't really seem like people are striking. I browsed yesterday and this morning, and there are roughly the same number of listings that I typically see for U.S. only "my little pony." And people are bidding, too. I don't think ebay will feel any loss.

I'm not selling, but I am disappointed that there seems to be no difference. Still the same number of items for sale... still going for the same prices!

I guess you only need 2 people for a bidding war...
