Are there near extinct ponies?

I was just thinking the other day about some of the variants and international ponies out there and how much some go for. The Greek Ladybird in particular made me wonder what is the rarest pony out there?

Sure there are scarce, sought after, hard to find and rare ones- but is there a super rare one out there?
Like they were released in such a small area to begin with, small production and haven't survived the rigors of time and children?

Love to know what anybody thinks.

I think the only ponies that would be "near extinction" would be variants, prototypes and maybe some really rare internationals like Columbians. It's interesting to think about though, there are definitely some ponies that probably just a handful exist, like reverse Gusty!

I dont know either. I will contue to watch this tread it woud be intresting to know. I know besides columbia ones south african one's are very rare.

I think South Africans are at the top of the rarity chain when it comes to countries, since so very few of them have ever been found. Colombians used to be up there too, but with so many of them showing up in the past few years, they're not as rare as they used to.

As for what the rarest pony of them all is, that's a really hard question, since there are some ponies that we only know of ONE that exists, or maybe two. A few that come to mind are some Italian variants, or French ones, or one off ponies that were a factory error and are now considered variants.

Same thing woudl go for prototypes. Those were never mass produced in such state, so I would think they are really at the top of the list. Imagine finding one of the ponies featured in a MLP brochure that was never released as in the picture. Now that would be a great find!

One word....

Takara

I concur with takaras and south africans!

LOL I've never seen a takara. What are they?
Or do I even want to know. One of those oblivion is bliss things?

Oh you totally want to know :p

They were made in Japan and they look super different from the regular MLP line (I guess to try and appeal to Japanese children)

Panda found one not long ago

I've only seen a handful (and by seen, I mean pictures) I think only that many are known to exist. There were supposed to be babies but as far as we know none were ever made but there are fakie babies that you'll see pop up for sale for 40ish dollars.

I think they're quite fascinating. Someone on the arena has a few and has a ton of clothes but the one that Panda has is the only one MIB I've ever heard of.

Long story short, crazy rare XD

So rare that many people don't even know that they ARE MLPs. *u* I didn't know about it until not-too-many years ago. And, actually, that pic from Panda is the first time I've even SEEN a picture of one.

So that's pretty darn rare...

Thanks. That is cute, like a little horse. The style reminds me of a Japanese kids show I saw a long time ago.

Yeah nobody would think MLP unless you knew. I used to be crazy into Japanese toys too, but had no clue.
Crazy, crazy ponies.
