Sorry if this is not the right category to post this, please let me know if it isn't, but I was wondering if anyone has friends irl who are also into mlp? Do you guys think it's common or rare to run into a mlp fan irl? I really have been hoping that I'll make a friend or two irl who share this interest with me (because after all it does feel like a lifestyle lol)!! Anyways, yeah just a question haha, much love and have a great day/night!! <3
 
Unfortunately no. No one else that I know even as kids were interested in mlp. I cherish the friends I have made here. My family and friends are nice about it and know that I love MLP but not any other collectors irl. I've made some great friends at the pony convention last year! That was super fun to be surrounded by like minded people.

I see, yeah I'm really glad I found this website where I can post about mlp. I am pretty new to this website so I hope I can make some friends on here!! I really hope I can go to a pony meet or pony convention sometime in the next year when my collection is more established.
 
My childhood friends did (here’s a photo of us dressing as the Mane 6 in 6th grade for Halloween) but I don’t know many people anymore. My best friend likes it but not as much as me, she’s more into other vintage toys like dollhouse miniatures

i don't have any IRL friends so needless to say... no, lol. they're all online, just easier to find pony-loving friends that way in general i think

That is so cute! Yeah, I knew one person who was really into vintage toys but not mlp specifically :sadpony:

Yeah, that's the case for me too. And it's true, no place better to find like-minded people than this website! Do you recommend any other platforms to make pony-loving friends?

instagram has quite a bustling mlp collecting community :) ive also found collector friends via discord servers. most are focused on g4/friendship is magic and later, however you can find some all gen collector servers if ya look hard enough.
 
My older sister loved them as much as I did till I was about 7 but she had pretty much grown out of it after that, and in the last couple years I’ve kinda gotten my mom into them haha. She’s not like a big collector but sometimes she sees one and thinks it’s pretty (she owns like 3 now plus a few spikes) and she knows a bunch of the names cause she keeps an eye out for some for me which is cool
 
Not irl most of my friends are online. My best friend and room mate thinks their pretty but does not collect them.
 
I know a few people offline, including my baby sister (tho she's mostly into the g4 fandom and not into collecting). I run into to other vintage toy collectors while thrifting, but no other MLP fans yet.

2nding @stjarne that instagram is a great place to connect with other collectors. Facebook can be too, tho my local group is pretty quiet.

I had a friend in middle school who loved MLP just as much as I did, but she moved out of the country and we haven't been in proper contact for a few years now... I'm sure she grew out of it anyways lol, since she didn't even know G5 has been out for a while!
And the friends that I have now? Well, two of them like MLP. Or well, sorta? They both used to be huge MLP fans in middle school so they have happy memories of it and they talk with me about ponies, but neither of them collect them or are into it as much as I am. I will still sometimes give them some of my doubles anyways since I know they will appreciate them and I just love giving gifts to my friends :)
And all of my friends who know that I love MLP send me pony related content (usually tiktoks that they stumble upon on their fyps) and I've heard them say "Oh any time I see ponies I think of you!" a couple of times and it makes me happy! I'm glad that even if they aren't into things that I'm into that they still know my interests and think of me when they see colorful horses somewhere hehe
 
My friend back in 1990 did, before I moved. I’m old, lol.
 
i have a couple friends in my art class in college who love it!! outside of college though im usually the one to do the converting. my girlfriend had never seen an episode in her life until i came along. now her favourite pony is applejack

I did, but he didn't drive and and lived across town and would get verbally abusive if I wouldn't chauffer him and his partner around at their whims. I had to walk away from that "friendship" for my own well being, sadly. It was great fun while it lasted though. It was nice knowing I had a fellow enthusiast in town to trade tips and ponies with. So I came here to make more friends, who hopefully won't have unrealistic expectations of me. I hope I'll make many, mature, kind, pony friends here.

I have a few friends that like to enjoy them with me but it's not their main passion on their own. My bestie went to the pony fair with me and also owns a few ponies. During the FiM era we both loved it and sang all the songs together and went to bronycon. But at this point I think ponies is kind of mostly a passive interest for her. Same goes for my other friends. They all love vintage toys of all kinds, but mlp isn't their focus.
 
Oh absolutely :) Several dozen are right here on the forum, and lots of us meet up every year for the MD Pony Meet. We also meet up throughout the year and grab a meal or go to events together.
