I really enjoy restoring ponies. That said, is anyone else somewhat disappointed when they receive a minty pony? I know that may sound crazy and I don't always feel that way. I am not by any means a picky collector. I think it's just that a minty pony doesn't need anything and she can go right to the pony cabinet. There is just something so satisfying about restoring a pony to her former glory, you just don't get that with a near mint gal! Don't get me wrong, I am proud of my minty ponies and there are a few ponies that I wanted to be minty, my Baby Blue Ribbon was one of them. When I finally get Gusty I will want her as minty as possible as well. I know, I'm weird! I just wondered if anyone shared my feelings.

I don't know how to restore, so i like recieve good ponies xD if i recieve a poor looking pony they will sit on a pile for ages... unless i dont have it... then the poor pony will sit with my collection... lol.

Maybe I should have mentioned that I don't do any major restorations, I don't rehair or deflock. I stick to removing marks and defrizzing hair mostly. I just love finding an old pony that has matted hair!

I hear you.... Although I like resiveing a mint pony, I LOVE helping them "shine" again.... makes you feel inportant in a funny way... So, sometimes when I buy a pony I buy it just because it is baity or has some smaller problems that you can fix.... It´s fun....

I can understand how you feel. :3 it's exciting to get a grimmy pony, clean em up, and discover how gorgeous they are underneathe. I used to really enjoy giving my new ponies a bath and prettying them up - I'll never forget how happy I was at how clean Baby Noddins was after I cleaned him up. It's like finding another present within a present.

But I like to receive minty ponies as well. XD I find that I don't have the time to clean the ponies any more, and receiving them mint removes the need... though it's nice if they're a little dirty but minty underneathe XD

I like receiving any pony. lol. Actually though, I do enjoy ponies with flaws more. I like when a pony is all minty and beautiful, but there is something about a pony who is more manky and you can tell that she was "well loved". I don't know why, but these ponies make me feel all warm. lol. I'm not really one for restoring though. I mean, I might condition their hair, but I don't go all out. If anything, I think I like preserving the mankiness.

well i do enjiy restoring ponys myself too. but sometimes the get on my nerves ^^;; *looks over to her drawn on Snow* but then again, i love getting "baity ones" and just by giving them an acetone scrub and a hair brushing and they look just out of the box! it's fun to do that. though i still squeel when i get a super minty pony ^^ especially considering i didn't expect too XD;;; i'm not a hugely picky collector; most of my herd are "baits" but ya still luvs them anyways ^^

Restoring can be fun. I just feel weird when I get a pony that's been rehaired. It's where she's been restored to her original glory, but I think it's weird because it's not the original from the factory original. Majority of the time, it's the same kind of hair, but it's just not factory original. I'm happy with near mint ponies. Many are 20+yrs old now and it just shows how well of a loved life they've had so far.

There's always something to clean. :) I re-clean almost everything. I'm weird about dust and dirt though. exception being already clean flocked ponies. I don't touch original factory flock if it's already clean, and had never been cleaned. Once you wash original flock it never looks quiet the same. On clean so soft's I do use a touch of water to get dust out of the hair only.

I sort-of get what you mean. But I'm super excited to get mint ponies too. I love mint ponies. I'm on a quest to find upgrades for almost any and every pony.

I have a wonderful friend who knows how much I love original mint-ness. She's kind enough to let me take a mint in trade for a slightly less mint cleaned & groomed pony. Of the same pony. :1985: (I sooo have to show off the moonstone she found for me the other week. This moonstone is perfection.)

But sometimes, I *love* finding a box o ponies with a bit of dirt on them. I can't find much time anymore, but still there's something so satisfiying about grooming and cleaning and finding something beautiful under the grime. Most of my childhood ponies were second hand, but even when I was 4-5 I would clean my yardsale finds with some soap and an old toothbrush. Made me feel like they were "new" toys after I was done. I was so proud to make a dirty unloved toy "new" again. So I'm pretty sure my love of restoring, cleaning and grooming came from that.

I am proud of my BAIT ponies..I don't have them in better condition,but I won't sell them^^
I love restoring..it' makes you feel all good inside.

Heheh, I LOVE grimy ponies with wonky hair. As much as I love minty ponies, there's nothing quite like spending time prettifying a dirty one :)

OMG! I sooo know how you feel. I love to get them in rough shape so I can pretty them up it's like my project. ; )

OMG me too! I LOVE cleaning ponies, haha! As long as it's something that can be removed with soap, water, and some conditioner, I love to clean it! The rehairing is a little more difficult for me, though, but I try my best! :]

Restoring

I love to buy a lot of bait to good ponies and then restore them by rehairing the ones with bad ( I mean really bad) or deflocking the ones with really bad flocking. I feel so good inside like I have given them a new lease on life! They can go out and face the world again!

I am always thrilled when i receive a pony NM, BUT i completely understand that satisfaction of just making a dirty pony sparkle like new!!

Yeah me too!!
I love when I go to a thriftshop and find a pony who under all that grime has the potential to shine! *sniffles at new stupidstupidlaw* I love the surprise of not knowing just how beautiful you can make them. Its like their own little makeover! I like bidding on ponies that are a little manky with problems I know I can fix too :p
I love the ritual of cleaning my new ponies. I guess its like spending time with them when I first get them. Picking out a hairdo that will look good.. Deciding witch side of the head the hair should lay, being pleasantly surprised when marks come up..

Yeah.. I agree with you totally! Messy ponies are fun!

I do clean my ponies but I don't think I will rehair most of the ones I have even though some have buzz cuts or super frizzy hair because they are old and I think it gives them character!

Cleaning ponies is so relaxing to me. I know what you mean about restoring a pony to her former glory. It is very rewarding! That being said, I LOVE a minty pony! But I clean and condition everyone that comes through my hands.....from the baitiest bait, to the mintiest mint.
