I'm a stoked that the Fair is coming back to New England and have been reading all the updates on the forums as they come out. I'm a big fan of costumes and cosplaying and this year I'm attempting to make an MLP cosplay. I love what these gals have done and was curious if any other brave soul was dressing up? I bet Hasbro would get a kick out of it. ;D

Also, if people are staying in New England after the MLP Fair there is also an anime/gaming convention in CT that same weekend called ConnectiCon. It's about 2 hours from Pawtucket and it's located in Hartford. A bunch of my friends go to it and I would have been volunteering at the Registration desk but... ponies come first. ;D I'll be heading there Sunday though.

well I know I just made a set of cyberlox for some one who's cosplaying, but I won't let the cat (or pony) out of the bag =P

I'm not going in a full get up, just probably wearing some purple to represent Rarity. Maybe draw her symbol on my clothes somewhere.

While i'm not attending the fair, i am cosplaying at Ponycon later in the year ^_^ I've done it every year lol.

I wish I could. I am not very skilled. I love seeing them!

I would cosplay as Rainbow Dash, but I can only find rainbow clown wigs & I'm too afraid to dye my hair.

I'm cosplaying too! ^_^ I'm glad I won't be the only one.

Avaind, the girl in the top photo who's Rainbow Dash sharpie-dyed her wig. That means she took a white wig and either colored it by hand with sharpies (and then rinsed it out really well) or made a mix of sharpie ink and rubbing alcohol and sprayed it onto the different sections of her wig. (And then rinsed it out really well lol.) I've never done it myself as it seems like a messy, stinky, time-consuming pain in the butt, but just thought you'd like to know that's one way of doing it.

Oh very cool! I'm excited to see other people dress up! I'm working on a Skyflier cosplay and her body color as a fabric was very difficult to find. It's still a work in progress but I'll get it done. ;D

Thanks for the post about the sharpie wig dyeing! I've heard of that technique but haven't tried it. I've seen some wigs where it works perfectly though.

I found photos of the last time the fair was in RI:

It's not full-blown cosplay, but I am making myself a pretty sweet Rainbow Dash-themed outfit...

Thanks! My lil' sis thinks I would be a better Pinkie Pie, so I don't know who I'm going to do. xD

I love seeing that so many others are going to be dressing up! I think Will is a little ashamed to know me right now  But it's not gonna be a full-blown cosplay (no ears or horn). But it's gonna be an awesome outfit!

So some things I picked up on.

Firstly, I'm not a seasoned con goer or cosplayer so if anyone has anything to add or correct, feel free.

If you're gonna do an iron-on transfer like I did, make sure you check your PRINTER TYPE and buy the correct paper. I purchased ink jet iron on paper and I only have a LASER jet. >.< My pal Dan (who helped me so much with my skirt and was my Rarity) came through for me again. XD

PART of the skirt was closed up with staples, believe it or not. Just so we could easily alter things if needed, and so I could just buy a small stapler and toss it in my bag for quick repairs. I've worn the costume four days now, and it worked well. We also used air bubble packaging (the large pillowy ones, not bubblewrap) for the volume in the bottom tier. Its actually time for me to replace that.

So when you go to cons, everyone reminds you to shower. But no one reminds you that you won't have a way to WASH THE COSTUME. XD

So invest in Febreeze or whatever fabric refresher you like to use. Some hotels even provide linen spray for your sheets you could use in a pinch.

Also, if you can double up on a costume item, do so. I really wish I had thought to buy a second pair of tights. XD And my fence net arm warmers might need replacing soon.

Love Cons and Cosplay :) I'm hoping some pony people will also be making it to CTCon! *fingers crossed* It's a lot fun. Haven't made a costume in over a year but this is my collection of costumes on Cosplay.com if anyone was interested:

I think there's going to be a lot of cosplaying at the Fair this year, compared to previous US Fairs were there was none at all. There were a few people talking about cosplay early on this year & the Fair organizers added a "costume contest" to the games & activities list.

I'm working on something. I've never attended an event in costume before, but it seems like such a fun idea. Which reminds me... I should get away from the computer & get back to work on my costume.

Almost kind of too shy now to want to wear mine ^^"" I hope it's just because I can't wear the tail until the coach/bus lets off at the place...have to find some way to get it on without looking weird....

No way for me lipsync-ing to that song...don't like the original...let alone the parody D=

Oh awesome Kar! Can't wait to see a friendly face and see what you do with the perfume puff hair! I'll have to brush up on my vocals. ;D
