Oop's I think i put this in the wrong section.

Sorry!
Please feel free to move it

Looks like a cozy little apartment but maybe not alot of storage with those peaked ceilings.
Maybe you could put some shelving over your desk in the bedroom. And maybe in the hallway from the living room to the kitchen depending on how wide the hallway is. And a little bit on top of your tv unit. That might be about it without making the apartment too crowded.

Congrats on getting your own place!

I'm sorry I never got back to you on your original floor plan thread!

Hmmm, so on those peaked sides, do you have a 5 foot high wall and then the roof or is it around average of an 8 ft wall?

Also, since this is your first apartment, you'll probably do stuff that many of us do when you first move out and have a lot of fun of course. But when you have your social activities, are you going to do a clean sweep of the living and kitchen areas where people will be and put the ponies up or take a chance and leave them out? If you plan on hiding then during social events, you've gotta think of a way that is easiest to clean them up and not be so noticeable that something was originally there.

For fun, like many, put the sea ponies up in the bathroom :) Have you thought of a decorating theme yet for your bathroom? If it's a sea or beach theme, then a definete for at least 1 seapony or merpony in there.

How about a decorating theme in your kitchen? A suggestion would be to use the food themed ponies here and there, but remember, it is the kitchen and can get hot and messy. You really don't want a pony in the line of fire if you have grease splatters or cake mix flying from the mixer.

Is that a walk in closet in the bedroom? If so, that is a lot of storage in there! Amazingly when the g3's first came out, I had an apartment as well with a walk in closet. We had stayed in that apartment for almost 2 years, so by then it was a lot of g3's from the beginnging to midway thru I think it was '06 when we moved. Anywhoo, we ended up having to pack an entire small u-haul, a small pick up truck, and my small car with all of my ponies when we moved and the point of all of this is that all of them were stored in just one half of my walk in closet! lol

I would display any loose ponies. Those mib, I'd put into storage for safe keeping. Also remember, you are in an apartment, I'd definetly get renter's insurance if the apartment doesn't already make you. It's like $15 a month. Also make sure that every few months, especially if you've gotten anything new, that you photograph or document it somehow, all of your possessions. Make sure that disc or memory card where that info is stored can be accessed quickly in case of a fire or emergency. You know what you are responsible for, but you can't keep an eye on your neighbors inside of their homes, so be prepared.

Depending on ceiling height, I think you can still probably work some shelves around the room in there. Something like set the shelf around 7-8 inches down from where the ceiling begins to pitch and have that shelf at the same height all around the room. If you have a door frame to the bedroom, have it going over that as well. It looks best to have it at the same height all around the room and you have have to use the top of the door frame to set your height guide so it looks nice all the way around.

Like most apartments, just remember, whatever holes you put into the walls, you'll have to fill them in. I'd make sure to purchase some sheet rock stuff to fill the holes in at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace, etc to fill in those spots. Be sure to pick it up during the year that you are in the apartment.

Still have those carebears? Maybe have one of those border the ceiling shelves up around the living area and have those displayed around there. It'll add a splash of color to your home too.

Oh and for fun, do a search for older threads where people have displayed their collections to get some ideas as well. Normally every few months someone posts, lets's see your collections! and all kinds of cool photos come out.

Hi there, congrats on the apartment.
Many shelves, particularly in small spaces, will make things seem even smaller!
So one option it to get a tall, but shallow bookcase. You could either place it right beside the head of your bed or perhaps in that free corner in the living room.

Something in this shape:

IKEA | Storage furniture | Filing cabinets | ALVE | Bookcase with drawer

You can also search for "bookshelf" on Ikea....there are a ton of ideas out there, especially for limited space.

With the Peaked walls/ceilings there is only about 50" before it peeks my tv unit just will fit

Thanks everyone for responding

and no i dont care if my ponies are out all over lol
and
i was already planning to do my bathroom under the sea or something like that lol i dont have many sea ponies but i do have a few tiny little bratz angels mermaids i wanted to stick to the wall some how lol and i have a kitty mermaid ornament i got from homesence that i'm gonna stick in there hehehehe

That's going to be cool! And at michaels, you can get some beach/sea stuff to make crafts with right now. They've got these large bowls shaped like a fish that you can purchase sand and shells and put on the counter or back of the toilet as decor.

I agree, some of the 3 shelf book cases instead of the 5 shelf would work best. That is a low clearance at 50". Also check walmart.com for furniture and also on saunders.com.

The shelf I was thinking about, I think it's called a border shelf, where you have just one shelf and it runs all around the room near the ceiling.

love looking at walmart.com but walmarts in canada dont always carry the same stuff
I so want the coffee table i pictured it was on walmart.com with 3 other poeices that matched for 299 god what a good deal lol but our walmarts dont carry concord arg:gonnagetit:

Love those pictures of your collection and the TV unit looks cool. Can some of your favorite ponies be displayed on top of the TV?

WHERE did you get that entertainment unit?! That's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for!

The TV unit and the Couch are from th The Brick
hmmmm
is the Brick a canadian furniture retailor?
:daisy:

was thinking of putting on the TV unti or putting my giant TMNT action figures up there lol

I like that tv display stand as well. If you are comfy with it, I'd put ponies on top of the TV stand as well. Put the faves up there or even the htfs/rares to show them off more.

You can get the clear display cases, and just stack them on top of each other. means you don't lose space with odd height shelves. Keeps the focus on the ponies, and are great for kitchen, bathroom or just keeping bits with the right ponies. Or have them in the cases on a high shelf running around just below the ceiling, but you won't have to worry about them being attacked by the dust bunnies, or getting all grimey.
Instead of a wooden coffee tables, what about a glass/perspex box filled with ponies, or a castle? Make a great feature but still be practical!

Do you know how many square feet your apartment is? It's hard to tell if your drawing is to scale or not. I'm a interior design major, so I think in square feet, lol.

For a small apartment, I would recommend making a feature wall of sorts, maybe on the farthest wall of the apartment (the southern most wall in the living room area) over the chaise part of your sofa. You can get some fun cube-like shelves in different sizes and display your collections there in small amounts. A lot of people store parts of their collections and rotate the display every season (or as often or as little as you like). It keeps things fun and interesting, knowing that when you walk in it maybe something completely different then when you saw it last (for your guests, natch. ;)) You can buy those rolling storage containers that fit underneath your bed for the collections you aren't currently displaying.

There looks like there will be some room on the long wall in the kitchen as well for some display room, and since the kitchen isn't peaked you could get a nice tall corner unit that could fit behind your table and chairs.

Maybe you could get a small beanbag chair to stick in the corner somewhere to seat some of your plushies.

That's what I have off the top of my head, but if I come up with something else, I'll drop a reply.

I'll definalty get measurements when i get a chance to get in there.

oops my bad the kitchen is peaked also i believe:catani:
