How much have you spent on your pony collection? =p

how long have you been collecting?

me? i've been colecting about...7-8 yeares :) so since i was 12-13 ish, and i really got kickstarted when i started going to huge flea markets, and when i got a JOB lol at 16. my first pony i got in the mail was a baby drummer and he was $7 shipped and i stillLOVE him to this day. very much so. and i have never, even qaccidentally in a lot, gotten a double of him :) ( but daddy apple delight stalks me like there is no tomorrow, i thinki've got 4?

to date, i've probably invested about $6-7,000 on my colection, i think. maybe... lol if i count everythign pony.

it's best not to dwell! i have all the rare g3's rosey posy, lspp, taf project pony (i have all 3),bay breeze, anchors away, frisco, trolley. in fact i have at least 1 of all g3's made.lol and i have mimic! these babies are not cheap. lol. it is several thousand dollars and then the tons of merchandise! yes it makes me cringe!!

I've spent thousands on my collection. I've never actually added it all up (I think I'm too scared to). But I'd say I've spent at least $7000...

I got my first pony when I was 5 in 1983 (FF Cotton Candy). From then until probably grade six (12 years old), all I wanted for Christmas and Birthdays was ponies. Then I had a lull from Jr. High until probably Grade 12 when I found a pony at the grocery store and thought "I remember those!" and I bought it. I think that's when the interest was renewed.

It wasn't until about a year later when my family got our first computer that I began searching for ponies on the internet (I was SHOCKED that someone else liked them too ;) ) So I'd say I've been collecting seriously for 10 years now. My very first online purchase was for Minty (the one collector pony I didn't have when I was younger).

Now it's just my little obsession :)
 
on purchasing prolly only about $2000.... on SHIPPING THEM prolly about $700 lol moving around the world with your ponies is expensive i don't reccomend it!
 
From the time I started collecting, until the time I stopped...I probably spent around 3-4 thousand. I do keep records somewhere, but the book is lost amongst my moving boxes.
 
I highly doubt I've spent anything more then $500. I don't buy from ebay very often, and I don't pay too much for ponies. I don't care if they're minty. Some of the ponies in my collection don't even have tails!
I usually spend a dollar here and a dollar there at thrift stores/yard sales for the most part.
 
Oddly enough, this post has actually helped to cheer me up. My mom has recently started to nag me about how much I spend on ponies again. I think this is why I collect in spurts. I'll buy ponies for a couple of months, then she starts nagging at me for "wasting so much money on those stupid ponies." Then I'll pack up my ponies and stop collecting for a couple years. However, they inevitably come out again the process starts over. :p

Anyway, seeing how much you guys all spent on your pony collections cheered me up. Now I know I'm not crazy, or maybe that I am crazy but I'm not the only one. :wink:

So how much have I spent? I don't know exactly, but probably a couple thousand so far. I'm basing this on the fact that I have a couple hundred ponies including: Mimic, Baby Buttons, three Dutch babies Blumen, Dolphin, & Rabbit, NBBE Baby Ribbon, Baby Lollipop, Baby Candy, & Fireball, among others.
 
Man. I've been "collecting" since I was two years old - my folks bought me ponies of course. :) So that'd be 22 years right there.

I... honestly don't have a clue how much the whole herd cost. As a kid I had a couple of hundred ponies and ALL the playsets released in this country, and given that Paradise Estate was ....HOW the heck much? £80 or something? I'd guess my original herd was worth well over £500 in itself.

When I got into collecting properly, in my mid teens, and found the dreaded internet, and I absolutely dread to think of how much I've spent! I know I HAVEN'T paid more than $100 for a single pony, though, so maybe I've been a little reasonable. :)
 
I don't want to think about it because it could probably pay for a nice overseas holiday, but a few grand for sure, especially since I started collecting nirvanas.
 
I've been really lucky with my G1 collection and have gotten most of them very cheap. I'm going to have to really go through everything for a rough estimate though.

I'd say at least 2,000 over the last couple years-mostly in G3s and merchandise.
 
I have a tiny collection. XD I also don't own anything very rare. I'd say I've payed less than $200 on what I have at the moment. I'm so cheap! Definitely a thriftstore addict. I'd say my collection is worth at least $300 though.
 
Probably 10k or so... But I made that easily back plus a couple thousand when I sold my almost complete US and UK collection a couple of years ago.
Since I started collecting again, probably 2000 or so..
 
Hmmmmm.... I don't think I've spent very much, actually. I've got a few hundred G1s, and most of those cost less than £1, most were 50p or less. The G3s of course take the biscuit - but I gave up paying a fiver a pop a long time ago. I've traded for a lot of ponies - I can probably say I've easily spent more on trade postage than actual ponies.
 
probably around $6,000 usd. I've been collecting since 2003 on the g3's alone. And that does not include the few high dollar ones that I don't have.
 
I started collecting properly in 2003 (as opposed to buying them second hand if I found some). Since then it has probably been at least AUD$5000 - mostly on G3's because they are so expensive here. I don't even have any rare ponies lol :oops: . I worked at Subway for 9 months last year and spent about 90% of my wage on ponies - I should go check my pay slips to get a better idea :lol:
 
I've been collecting for maybe 11 or 12 years. And I'm not sure how much I've spent. I'm actually in the midst of taking inventory right now, because I want to buy insurance, and I had originally estimated about 10k.....but I'm now thinking 15k might be a better estimate...... :shock:

I've been collecting since 1998, but I don't really have too many yet. I don't know how much I've spent, but it must be about $300.00.
 
I bought alot of my ponys when the market was high, so I think with the added factor of G3's and all the merchandise and shipping costs....I don't want to think about it! ^..~ I think I've been collecting about 5 or 6 years.
