Hey again guys!
I have discovered Dollyhair, and am going to be re hairing my first MLP's soon... (Once I can afford the hair and the tool that is!) Typical me, I have gone through my herd and pulled everyone that needs hair work so I will be ordering a lot...

I have done some prep work on Mailsail and Cherry Treats, I am SO proud of Mainsail! She was a disaster, filthy, rusty, frizzy cut hair. covered in marks, she has come up so beautiful!!!

I now have two completely hairless ponies, and I actually really like the way they look with no hair! They just so cool! I am thinking, (and this is MY idea, no stealing! If you like it ask first hehe) that I should find a white bodied pony, figure out how to get rid of it's symbols, dehair it completely and put the breast cancer symbol on it (I suck at artwork of ANY kind so this is gonna be a huge challenge...) and give it to my Mum who has just beaten breast cancer... I would LOVE to put one in her Christmas stocking, just not sure if I have the ability to get it made myself....

Seriously, what do people think of the hairless G1 adults? and who lies my idea of a breast cancer survivor pony???

hmmm, maybe add a tail or just make it so so so clean it's irresistible? :smilepony:
I love blank clean ponies, like prototypes! But I can't do it myself, I personally prefer restoring. But maybe a really clean pony done up for a breast cancer survivor pony :) oh! maybe make a little letter like it was written by the pony saying something like being a beautiful survivor?
Love the idea! Hope others help give opinions too :)

You're actually not the first one to have thought of a hairless pony with a ribbon as a symbol! I've seen a couple of the years and of course there's the limited release G3 breast cancer pony (but she did have hair). So, no- you're not weird at all!

The thing a lot of people have said in the past with hairless ponies is the mane hole plugs look weird. So, you may consider filling the holes with clay to give it a "shaved head" kind of look rather than just open holes which some people say looks unfinished.

It might also be cute to leave the mane plugs as they are and add hair as your mom's hair grows back but she'll probably have hair by Christmas! It's so awesome that your mom beat cancer! I'm so happy for her and your family!

Several cool possibilities, I think! Being well is definitely a great inspiration for a custom!

I think that would be an amazingly powerful gift. :)

What a nice idea! Any gift from the heart is a big win. :) You could also make (or probably purchase a doll sized one) a little do-rag or hat, or whatever her choice of headgear is (when she chooses to wear it)

Hm...unless you can find a common G1 with a GREAT body but AWFUL/no hair, I'd suggest using a G3. Especially if you want a white pony, as white G3 bodies are generally a much more clean, bright white.

Also, about the plug holes - if you don't want to leave them there or cover them with something like clay...what if you just cut the hair as short as you possibly can, so the pony basically just has stubble, if that? I really don't know how that would work out, but it's an idea. And I personally agree that a pony with just holes would look kind of incomplete..

Congrats to your mom! =)

I like the hairless look, too! I think that your mom would love a gift like that. It would show how much you support her and are proud of her recovery! That would be an amazing gift!!:winkpony:

That's an awesome idea! Good luck! I second the G3 suggestion, though.

I made one last year in memory of my friend who had Leukemia and haired her in the ribbon color and her hair color. :)

That sounds like a really wonderful gift! It's a while before Christmas, so you've got plenty of time to practice. I was like you, I didn't think I could ever get what I had in my head to come out in paint, but I practiced on baity dolls from thrift stores and now I think I do a pretty decent job! You can do anything you put your heart into! :smilepony:

The plug holes on a pony will slowly grow closed with time as the plastic re-settles. Or you could try cooking the head a bit (low heat setting on the oven for like 20 minutes or so) which will help the plastic to expand and make the holes smaller. A few years of customizing has shown me that the holes will close up over time.

And huzzah to you mom for beating the cancer!! The custom sounds like a wonderful gift!! Be sure to post the finished result!
