Once upon a time, about 10-15 years ago, I had an eBay account. But I moved, changed email addresses & bank accounts (getting married, and all) plus I couldn't even remember the username (I think it was onesweetworld, or something close to that) or password I used. So I figured starting a new account would be in my best interest.

Ok, so I start browsing for ponies and I see a lot of 9, won it for about $20, most of them were ponies I didn't already have. So I pay within hours of the auction closing & the next day I get the shipping notification. I'm so excited! I haven't had pony mail for so long!

Today the package arrived. I was so excited to open it, as these were the ponies I was expecting:

So I open the package and I am surprised to find these:

Well, most of them are horses...so...close? :lolpony:

I haven't been on eBay in so long. I sent the seller a message. I'm assuming she put the label on the wrong box and HOPEFULLY she still has that box & would be willing to send it to me. I'd be willing to return the wrong box, but...we shall see what she says.

I feel odd, because here I am, BRAND new on eBay and a problem with my very first auction? But if she still has the correct box, she'll know. And if she sent my box to the person who was supposed to receive the plastic animals, she'll know, as well, I suppose. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly!

Has anyone had something like this happen before?

That is really strange. Lol! Well I'm sure the seller will be able to sort this out

She'll have too really. Because if she sent out the other box, the person who ordered the schleich would get a similarly confusing surprise.

Well, we had one case on amazon, where we bought a clone trooper and the seller didn't bother to tell us that he was out of stock of that particular one. So he sent a different one hoping we were both blind and wouldn't answer my emails. My boyfriend had to call amazon and find out what was going on, he decided to keep it, but I left the seller negative feedback simply because he would not answer back and he never even bothered to say hey! I don't have any more of these, would you like your money back? Or would you like a different clone? If he had done that he would not have gotten bad rep. And I don't give bad rep lightly, because I've had people let me know if they are out of stock. In fact it's the only bad rep I ever gave.

OMG :O What a luck! Let's hope she will answer quick and solve the problem. Ofc she needs to return your money at least. If the seller isn't answering you can always open the ebay case. (Purchase history --> I didn't receive it etc.) But make sure you do that within 30 days. Ofc first give seller the few days to answer :) Does the seller have good feedback?

I have been sent the wrong thing before also. The seller sent me money and I shipped it to the right person. They in turn shipped my item to me. It was an easy fix for me. All I was out was time and I have tons of that ya know.

I would be perfectly fine with that option, @tulagirl I've waited this long for the ponies, another week or two wouldn't hurt me at all! No word yet, but it's only been a day at one of the busiest times of the year. :satisfied:

I really don't mind the situation, I just find it funny that 1. it was still horses, for the most part & 2. it was my first transaction on Ebay with a new account.

The Horse is strong with you, young Klpetten

:lolpony: Whisper! Too punny, I love it!

I heard back from the seller! I'll be sending my box to the correct recipient & vice versa. Yay, I still get my ponies!

Awesome!

I did encounter something like that. I was expecting a doll and I got a tshirt. The seller realised she sent the wrong package and the person who got my package sent to me and I sent back hers and the seller paid for all the shipping. It was an honest mistake and thankfully the other person was also willing to cooperate. I left the seller positive feedback :)

I heard of this happening to someone else. But the kicker was that the seller expected the BUYERS to pay the costs for them to exchange packages. I had had problems with this seller, which is how I had heard about this. And the thing is is that the buyer who had told me this story was new to eBay and didn't know how things worked and she complied without complaining or turning the seller into eBay.

What a small world, I was watching that auction! I'm glad it finally got cleared up for you!! What are the odds that you'd still get horses, LOL!

Well, we're having problems getting the refund to me...the other person's got hers and is sending my box to me, but I'm not sure what's causing the problem on my end. The seller is going to reach out to eBay for help. I want to get this box out to the other buyer, especially if she wanted it before Christmas, but I think I should wait until I get the shipping refund.

I would wait until they get you the shipping refund before you ship it out. I think the other buyer would understand. If worse comes to worse, you'd have to open up a case against the seller and send the item back to them to get the refund and have them send it to the other buyer, so be it, but I wouldn't take the chance at sending it just because eBay won't help you out in that scenario.

Oh that is really odd. There should not be any issue with you getting your refund unless you paid with an echeck which almost no one does anymore. I agree you should wait for your refund. If you give her your email all she has to do is send you shipping money as funds. There is no reason for a delay unless she doesn't have the money or funds. Better yet another way would be to get her email and just send her a money payment request through paypal. So, there are other ways to get money to you. Just make sure all is right with your email address through paypal so the funds will deposit immediately.

Ugh - well, the situation went from bad to worse real quick. I got a message from the seller insisting the transaction for the refund for shipping went through on paypal on her end (I've still received nothing), immediately after I got a note from eBay saying that the case had been found in favor of the seller!!! What? So it said I could call to appeal...and I did. Now I'm getting a full refund and don't have to send what I currently have to the other person. But I want to. I mean, what am I going to do with this stuff? And I'm not going to try to sell it. So I may just send it back to the original buyer. At least one of us will get our stuff back (and maybe she'll be nice and send me mine?? :) )

The appeal guy I talked to was SO nice about it. I told him I was worried because it was my very first transaction on eBay. And he said I did aboslutely nothing wrong, it was the seller's error and they didn't handle it correctly.

But...MAN...I really wanted those ponies!!

Odd that they would have found in favor of the seller in the first place but you did the right thing in calling eBay. My guess is the seller must have put misleading information into the case for the case to have been found in her favor. But me, I wouldn't put the horses back in the greedy seller's hands if you don't want them. I would send them directly to the other buyer. They're probably as panicked as you. They're possibly a Christmas gift and they might want them as badly as you wanted those ponies.
