Or in this case, UV treating.

I am upping my restoration game!
I found a UV bulb in the cupboard which was inside my sister’s nail lamp that she doesn’t use anymore and she let me take the bulb. Now that I found a UV bulb I thought now is the time to create myself a UV chamber! Thanks to @Twinkle-eye for telling me where I can get some salon 40 cream.

My chamber is literally fully upcycled and probably the scrappiest one around. Just hope it does the trick! It also has a handle and it is so light

Materials: Coke Zero 18 pack box, scraps of laminate sheets that I kept in my art box to help reinforce some of the sides a bit, foil, bamboo skewer sticks to attach the bulb to the lid, tape. Oh, and black electrical tape to cover some of the wires. The tape was just normal tape until I ran out and also used t-Rex tape to make stuff stronger

Now Puzzlemint, do you want to finally remove those spots now?

I hope to update this thread with my UV treating adventures

So on the first day it was real sunny so I decided to try her outside during the day for a while then in the evening, UV chamber. Since then she had been in the UV chamber. The butt spots were my main aim although she does have red marks too and I know those are hard to remove

I turn it off now and then too and also changing her cream. Also her tape wasn’t staying down either. Thanks to tips here I decided to switch to the white acrylic paint. After a while I started to worry about the cutie mark so when changing her cream I peeled off the paint to check on it and all was well.

I then remembered how I really wanted to try my Princess Amber and fade her battle scars. So, seeing how well the paint was on Puzzlemint, I decided I’ll give it a try too. Here she is last night. I decided to remove her tail just for ease

Thanks! I’m not sure why I left Amber’s head off so I just put it back on but I decided to do it after putting on fresh cream so I got all sticky. Silly me

Heh, “weird” variant? Because her tail has no tinsel? Some of her symbol still has traces of the coating on it so I had to cover them. I just hope it doesn’t come off on the tape…
If she had Flash the Dragon with her maybe she wouldn’t be covered in these battle scars. I found her with Princess Misty but Misty’s pen marks aren’t too bad so at the minute I don’t think I’ll attempt fading her

http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Princess_Starburst She has the no tinsel tail and the clear plastic symbol. Behold the weirdos! I believe these were made at the end of the MLP line and they were using up extra bits to get rid of them. Some have glow in the dark hair etc.

Oh yes, of course! I think the yellow tail is much stranger than the purple. It just looks as if she got given the wrong tail :lolpony:
 
The thing about UV treatment is that I really miss my ponies being visible, on display and not accessible to handle a lot anymore. I think with things like this I get impatient from missing them so much but they’ve not gone far at all, I just can’t see them.

No noticeable changes just yet (as expected this soon) but I’m not sure if Princess Amber is lighter? I tried to take pictures to compare but she doesn’t look any different on camera, before or after. Also, she looks to be the same lightness on My Little Wiki too. Perhaps I’m just seeing what’s not there because I know the UV would make changes

I completely understand that! I love my UV box as it’s super effective and allows me to restore my ponies a lot faster (to get them back on my shelf) but I always end up checking on them every 6 hours or less because I’m worried something happened to them! And I just miss them. :blush:
 
I’ve began the UV treatment again since I am back from my trip away. I am still pretty tired from it all.

I saw that list of unsafe ponies to sunfade and that Cherry Treats is in the unsafe part… it seems to be a hit or miss with her because I’ve seen a Cherry on The Restoration Project who didn’t burn. I also found out that there’s a US and Euro Cherry on Toy Sisters that I wasn’t aware of. Mine’s Euro. I don’t know if that makes any difference though, probably not.

I decided I’ll go ahead trying Cherry. If I can do it, great, then I’ll have two angles to pose her. If I start to worry way too much I’ll take her out and proceed to rehair some of her plugs. I’ve taken plenty of references pictures too. Also, she’s had her magic erasing done

I am not sure if Puzzlemint is really doing anything at all so I may take her out but I’m also unsure if she’s really had enough time in there… still not sure if there’s been any changes with Princess Amber too. I don’t know if red pen even goes away successfully? I know it’s hard to fade

The UV bulb contraption thing. I sometimes think maybe I check on them all too much to see much change

She has no scent (as far as I can smell) so I don’t think I have to worry too much about the UV lifting her scent
 
Do you know the specs of the bulb? Specifically the UV Spectrum? Might need something stronger. I use one specifically for reef tanks since it mimics the sun close as possible. Reptile UV Bulbs are excellent too.

I managed to find a picture of the back of the UV lamp when I was taking it apart to grab the bulb. I was meaning to look into it but I completely forgot
