I'm curious about how the current and future shape of the G3 line is affecting or is likely to affect collectors. To that end I've made a little poll about what you see yourself doing as the Core 7 takes hold and we just get more and more re-releases.

Will you:

1. Stop buying as many ponies and turn to another hobby?

2. Continue buying all the re-releases?

3. Stop buying rereleases and focus collecting customs?

4. Stop buying new releases and focus on older ponies?

5. Other (please explain)

I voted other, as in I'll focus on G1's. I was into G3's for a while, but now they're getting way too repetitive.

I'm going to see what they decide to head with it and what comes of it... if they're cute or creative, MAYBE I'll buy a few, but I'm mostly going to concentrate on getting the older stuff and more rare things so I can complete more of it!! ^_^

That's why I don't mind the Core 7... it might even save me $$! :D

My focus will be turning more towards the creative aspects of the community once more . . . customs, drawings, and fanfiction. :)

Personally, I purchased my last MLP over 6 months ago, and haven't had the desire to purchase another one since.

So, effectively, my collecting is done. The Core 7 only served to put the final nail in the proverbial coffin.

I try to get only the ones I like to begin with... So if there's one they come up with that I really like I'd like to have her... however if they're going to focus on only 7 or so ponies for a while, chances are there aren't going to be any I really like.

So if I do spend money on ponies, they'll most likely be the older ones I feel like I've lost my focus on. My poor boys are no where near complete! :O

Of course I really like the Ponyville line... granted again I only get the ones I really like so if I start seeing repeat ponies I'll be put off again... Sometimes it's hard enough to want a set that's really cute but comes with a pony I'm not fond of >.O

I've already started selling off most of my G3s so I can focus on G1s... they just don't make me happy like the G1s do. And as far as the re-releases go, I won't be buying any of them! take THAT Hasbro

I haven't been buying many ponies for quite a while, but if I do buy any, it'll most likely be G1s. I do hope this doesn't spell the end of the G3 line, though, since they were talking about their 2009 plans at the Fair last year.

As someone who isn't a G3 collector it isn't going to change much.

Except, I did keep some butterfly island stuff. (tropical colours + sea themes = <3)

If core 7 takes hold I chose "other".
Other being, I'll make sure friends know I DO NOT WANT new ponies. Never. do not buy them for me. Been there with pinky pie and gang! I got rid of them for a reason. ;)

the last g3 i bought was last x mas. I bought rarity. havent bought one since and dont feel the need to. i am only looking to by g1 and 2's now. I sold about half my g3 collection. might sell the rest haven't decided.

I guess Iam not as irked by the idea of "Core 7" as I was initially, but motly because I've already stopped acquiring G3s altogether. I just can't afford to keep trying to collect them all, and I found I was barely appreciating the ones I already had since there were just so many.

I suppose it depends on where they go with the core 7 that'll determine it for me. I mean they could make these ponies repeat themselves but then also throw new, exciting ponies in there. However if it is literaly just 7 ponies over and over and over again....then i shall concentrate on my G1 collection and the older G3's, only picking up new ones if i'm really taken with them.

I voted other b/c I will pick up new re-releases that I like, but I don't buy everything anyway. I'll focus more on G1's.

I've bought all the rereleases so far, and I'll keep doing that. I'll buy one of each rereleased pony. But if they're sticking with this same pose on every pony, it looks like I'll only be buying seven ponies next year. I'm not buying a Pinkie Pie in the same darn pose just because they slapped glitter on her or painting some designs on her legs.

And I'll probably be switching back to customizing some. There are some ponies I'd love to include in my comic, but they haven't been selected for rerelease, so I only have them in one pose.

I think I'm going to concentrate on buying more of the older ponies. I don't own any yet & want to start building it up. :) As for the newer ones, I always seemed to like the scented ones.

I'll stick to G1s again.
Even now I only get G3's if there is something new (proper new, not re-release).
I found a new dress up yesterday, Tropical Surprise - she's really nice. Otherwise they've been a bit depressing.

I'd have to say I will stop buying and turn to another focus, mainly my dolls:ipmimscs: which is sad.

My intentions are this. There are only two of the core Seven I want and those are Sweetie Belle and Star Song. I'll definitely pick those up as I like unicorns and pegasi. Those two aside I guess that's it for me with G3s aside from the few versions of Minty I don't own.

I voted for the one that has the highest votes currently. That is, stop buying the new ones and focus on the older ones. However, I've been doing that since last Christmas, so the Core 7 really isn't the thing that's making me turn back to G1s, although I never turned away from them, I was just collecting both at once (sometimes all 3 at once, although that was short-lived.)

I had a feeling the Core 7 was going to turn all the G3 collectors back to their G1 collections. Dangit, now I have to hurry to finish my want list before they start going up in price...even more!

*groan* I don't want to think about it! Ponies are pricey enough as it is!
