What do you like to watch? Any video / documentary suggestions?

I've made a return to my embroidery work, but I've run into a small issue: I can't seem to find anything to watch while embroidering! I used to work my way through video essays and Netflix documentairies, but it feels like those algorithms and suggestions have really gone downhill lately. I've tried listening to podcasts, but need subtitles most of the time - so watching something is easier, as long as it doesn't take up too much attention of course.

And so I pose this question to you pony pals, what do you like to watch? Any suggestions?

Genre doesn't matter, I love anything whacky, weird, nature, crime, fiction, etc. etc. Feel free to ramble and give opinions as well! Thank youuuu :Posty2:

YouTube has some pretty cool documentaries. I like the historical and fringe theory stuff.
Also, RetroGeeks channel is pretty awesome. She’s cool and also great at pony restoration.

I like a good crime mystery usually, but I also enjoy a little sci fi and adventure. Some of the best shows I've watched in the past year or 2 are listed below, some of them might be kinda old, but I stumbled on them late;

School Spirits
Yellowjackets
Poker Face
Only Murders in the Building
Motherland Fort Salem
Miss Scarlet and the Duke
Luther
Good Omens
Foundation
Evil
All of us are Dead

Old or new doesn't matter, I just desperately need content to binge XD!

I know I loved Good Omens, so I'll be sure to add some of these to the list for sure!! Thank you!

When I'm in the mood for something spurious, and I'm sewing, I usually end up at Mr. Ballen's YouTube channel. He tells stories (in English).

... but he does his research about the true crime, missing persons, weird science, and paranormal stories he presents, so it's well done. I appreciate when he includes actual photos of the case involved, because he always labels them distinctly. His American Accent isn't too annoying, and he seems personable. He hires someone to make clickbaity thumbnails for him so don't let them throw you off.

Ooooh that sounds right up my alley! A lot of the crime stuff nowadays seems so sensationalised and almost disrespectful to the parties involved, it can be hard to really find someone that's truly good at it. He's going on the list for sure

if you like history/archaeology and super longform content, i recommend the Youtube channel History Time. he posts really long documentaries he produces himself and they keep me occupied for a whole afternoon while i craft.

I'm just going to ramble off a list of whatever pops into my head lol:

She Ra and the Princesses of Power (the newer Netflix version, it is SO.GOOD.)

Abbot Elementary (cute & fun especially if you like mockumentary type shows)

Light & Magic (documentary about the creation of and by Industrial Light & Magic)

The Great North (hilarious animated show by the Bob's Burgers people)

Lower Decks (animated Star Trek show, so funny)

Some of my favorites are King of the Hill, Futurama, any Star Wars movie or series, Stargate Atlantis, and Downton Abbey

A few movies that are favorites - Ever After, Dragon heart, Water World, The Princess Bride, Nacho Libre, Best in Show

Edited to add: Bright Sun Films on YouTube has some interesting documentaries!

I often just put art YouTube videos on while I’m doing art or replay early episodes of the Welcome to Nightvale podcast, but sometimes I prefer a show :) Idk if it’s your type but I really enjoyed Disney Sketchbook which is a mini series of Disney artists talking about their background and teaching how to draw a character.
Other shows I like as background are (animated) Hilda and Amphibia, (live action) Merlin and White Collar. I also second Good Omens because it’s amazing, I can’t wait for season 3 next year! But I love it too much and would totally get distracted from doing my art and end up just watching it lol

Gosh I'm going to be busy it looks like

Can absolutely second She-Ra by the way! EXCELLENT adaptation and super intriguing story!
