It’s the return of the T’was the Night Before Christmas Photo Contest!
Got ponies? Got a digital camera? Then you can play!
We're going to illustrate this classic story with a photo contest!
Got ponies? Got a digital camera? Then you can play!
We're going to illustrate this classic story with a photo contest!
Here's what to do:
1. Everyone select up to three (3) lines from the story, and post which line/s you want here in this topic, thereby reserving them. They will be reserved on a first come, fist serve basis. If someone else has already grabbed your line you will be asked to choose another.
2. Then, using your ponies, create a photograph to go along with each line you chose.
a: You must use ponies in the photos (at least one, any generation). Other toys and items are fine to use, but your image must include Hasbro-manufactured MLP.
b: Photos must be appropriate to the content rules of this forum. (G-rating)
c: "Photoshop" and similar image manipulation programs may only be used for cropping, resizing and small "tweaks" such as color adjustment, contrast and the like. We do this to be fair, since not everyone has these programs.
d: No captions, labels or speech bubbles.
e: Photos must be your own. If I find it on google and it doesn't have your name on it - tsk tsk and no go.
f: Each photo counts as ONE entry. You may reserve up to three lines, and you may enter a maximum of three images, using up to three lines per photo. You may illustrate a photo with one line, or two lines or all three you selected. That's up to you and your artistry.
3. PM your finished images to me no later than 12:00 midnight EST on 12/22/13.
All will be revealed on 12/23, at which time our illustrated story will be shown in General Discussion and the MLPTP Admin Team's 3 favorite photos will be awarded a prize.
Any questions? Just ask here.
The contest signup is officially open, so reserve your favorite line from the story now!
I will try to keep a frequent watch on this thread and make which lines are already taken but please be certain to check the posts too and make sure no one has already taken the line you want. When I can I will turn red the taken ones and put the name of the member next to it.

T’was the night before Christmas, when all through the house DBM
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; DBM
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, DBM
In hopes that ST. Nicholas soon would be there; Stacescotty
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, Lollipop
While visions of sugar plums danced in their heads. CJFullmer
And Mama in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, tsukikakushi
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap — tsukikakushi
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, tsukikakushi
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. evilbunnyfoofoo
Away to the window I flew like a flash, evilbunnyfoofoo
Tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash. evilbunnyfoofoo
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow, Angel Foil
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below;
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer, Lollipop
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call'd them by name:
"Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer and Vixen, UnicornTamer
"On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Donder and Blitzen; Unicorn Tamer
"To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Unicorn Tamer
"Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!" Stacescotty
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys — and St. Nicholas too: Lollipop
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof Angel Foil
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound:
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot; Angel Foil
A bundle of toys was flung on his back, CJFullmer
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack. CJFullmer
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath; Stacescotty
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, ElectricHarpsichord
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.” glitterpony
