Hello TP friends! :)

The Auction House is now live for a trial run! ;)

:flutter2: Happy Bidding! :cc:

I voted yes because setting my own prices always make me so nervous so I rather price things lower and then let others decide its worth, haha. In addition, I don't like all the fees associated with ebay anyway and I like the idea of always having my ponies go to good homes and people I know and trust. :satisfied:

Maybe? Sometimes auctions can create hard feelings if someone snipes at the last minute. Then again, that's just part and parcel for a public auction. (Part of the reason I like ebay is no one knows if I got the last bid in lol.)

It might be a nice alternative to ebay though. Less fees. You know your ponies are going back into the collector community instead of a speculators storage bin.

I think we already have a rule for not harassing Ebay winners but that would need to extend to the site auctions too.

Is this like a live auction for us to bid on right on this site? if so, that would be fun

Is it a post auction?
like, basically you have a time frame from this time to that time that you can post your bids?
Yes, it would be a post auction with a time frame to bid during. ;)

No fees here! Only Paypal fees apply, and that is between buyer and seller. The MLPTP does not and will not be implementing any software that uses any user's payment information at any time, for any reason. :)

All posts are time-stamped, and there will be a third-party (not involved in the auction) mod will be able to determine who had the last bid in the event that it is unclear. Auctions here would not nearly be as cut-throat as one might expect on Ebay. ;)

Harassments of any kind for any reason is already in the MLPTP site rules and would not be tolerated in any areas of the site.

This sounds like it would be a lot like when my friend auctions her transformers on Twitter. She posts pictures and gives a base price and then her friends comment below with their offers until the timeframe she decided on runs out. It's all very open and casual and I've never seen her have any issues with it. So if it's anything like that it could be a nice fun alternative to cut-throat eBay, haha.

Yea thats a good point. Im not sure what I think.. In theory it sounds fun but if im totally honest it makes me nervous. For that reason and I just worry all prices will go higher than usual on things that arent usually as pricy.

Then again I feel like less pricy items may not be for auction and Im overworrying. Anxiety is super ruuudee. :rofl:Perhaps auctions would be for more expensive things that I wouldn't be buying anyway.

I am however open minded and wouldn't mind giving it a try if everyone else liked the idea! Sometimes you just have to try something and see where it goes! :satisfied: My worries could simply be nerves.

I used to bid on forum sites like Gaiaonline for items/adoptables/etc. It can be a lot of fun. But the majority of the people involved then were in grade school so there was always some level of drama involved lol. I'd hazard most of MLPTP's userbase is older so I would hope we could be much more mature about it. XD

I think the majority of items would be hard to price items or items in high demand. I could also see it being used for lots people don't feel up to parceling out individually. I wouldn't worry about low price items skyrocketing, at least not here.

Thinking it over, I have to say I'm in favor if folks wanna give it go. And hey, maybe I'll snag something nice!

Is it one item per auction thread, or can you post multiple items for multiple bids (not talking about a lot, but two auctions running in same thread). Is it one sale per thread?

Hope te question makes sense

Yes! You may include as many as 3 items (or 3 lots) in one thread. We figured that 3 was a good number to be able to easily keep track of, while also helping to consolidate your listings:

So for example, in one thread you may have something like:
1. A loose G1 Bowtie starting at $1
2. MIB Izzy Moonbow starting at $5
3. G3 giant plush Frilly Frocks starting at $100

All rules and guidelines may be subject to change in the future as we see how this all works out, and what may or may not be needed to make for a better experience for everyone. ;)

IMO the MLPTP doesn't have a big enough pool of potential buyers to make online auctions work. (No shade against the TP . . . Even eBay struggles to make auctions work these days, they usually end very low compared to BINs.) But I'm not against the idea. I hope it does work because eBay's fees are very annoying.

I'd love for the TP implement a BIN feature. Like, instead of the seller posting pics and then fielding PMs from multiple potential buyers--some of whom might flake out--have a more automated system where an item is automatically flipped to "closed" after a buyer BINs it. And have some kind of system of detriments if the buyer doesn't pay within X days, to discourage non-payers. Users with too many detriments could be blocked from BINing, or be put in time-out for a certain period of time, or something.

We won't know until we try ;) Hopefully a trial run will give us a good idea of whether or not it's something members would prefer in the long run.

I would love that too! However, we are limited by what is currently available and compatible with our forum software. There are always new developments though (I installed 3 new add-ons this week, but it's all behind-the-scenes related), so I'll be keeping an eye on the dev site to see what options may surface in the future.

Also, users with a certain number of negative feedback or warning points are already banned from the Marketplace as per moderator guidelines. ;)
