I just won Powder on Ebay for $4.95.

I'm guessing the seller isn't so happy about that since she was minty. Now she is charging me $15 to send it to Sweden which I think is ridiculous. I can't afford $15 in SHIPPING. That's insane. Or at least I think so.

Anyone who knows what shipping usually exactly is for one pony? I know I usually has to pay between $4-7 for one pony sent.
The shipping (according to the invoice) is through USPS Global Priority Mail.

So anyone who knows how much this person is trying to rip me of on?

BTW I live in Sweden and she in the US.

*sigh* why is it that every time you win something cheap and you get all happy about that the seller completely got to ruin it with the high shipping?

I don't have Powder, or anyone in her mold, so I took Moondancer, stuck her in a padded envelope and weighed her on our postal scale. She's 3 pouds 7 ounces. I went to http://www.usps.com and clicked "Calculate Postage." Destination: Sweden. Shape/size: Package. Weight: Pounds: 3, Ounces: 7. Here's the result:
Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (Large) 4 - 6 Days $9.00
Global Priority Mail - Flat-rate Envelope (Small) 4 - 6 Days $5.00
Global Priority Mail - Variable Weight (Single) 4 - 6 Days $23.00

Personally, I think we're looking at the middle one here. Good luck!

I think it was $4.80 to ship the 2 Slumber Party ponies to you, airmail. So $15 sounds like a real scam. :x

Re:

Crazy Kat Lady - yes it was you I bought those 2 off :)

I think it's sounds a bit too much to. And she wants me to pay cash since she doesn't have paypal so she can't blame it on that =/

I just hope she comes to her senses and find another way (like just airmail as I asked for) to send the pony.

Thanx for the replys :)

If she is using the automatic postal calculator on PayPal / eBay, it may be giving her the wrong amount. I recently sent three ponies to Finland and it told me the postage would be $17.00, but it ended up being much less . . . Including the envelope, it was about $7.00, so I refunded the extra with PayPal.

You could ask the seller to refund you if shipping is much less than the estimate, maybe?

3 POUNDS????? Are you sure? That's quite a bit for 1 pony. Or do you mean 3.7 ozs?

Um.... er... Heh. Nice catch. Ok, ignore my first post! *Facepalm*

this is why i only bid on things that have exact shipping cost listed outright on the auction. it is gettting annoying the high shipping costs.

Ditto here. I learned long ago never to bid on a pony that didn't have a shipping price listed. I've heard too many $10-15 shipping charge horror stories!

That aside, I totally feel for you, Desert_Rose. I personally feel that it's bad ettiquette for a seller to deliberately overcharge shipping. I hope you get it resolved, and soon own a beautiful Powder! :D

Re:

After talking her into sending it airmail I got A LOT better deal on shipping. Now shipping ws only $5. I saved $10 on that =)

Told her that I had done some reserch and she finally agreed to send it cheaper. Thanx for the help guys :)

Can't wait to see my new Powder =) She will complete that set :)

That is horrible. I know for a fact it would not cost more then $6USD to send to sweden and that is with air mail. Horrible I hate sellers that make their money off of shipping
