Ok, I know Apoxie Sculpt is what most people use for their ponies, but I'm currently trying to not spend more money on pony supplies (other than this HUGE hair order I'm about to make...) and I have a ton of Sculpey and Fimo lying around...

So I was wondering, is it possible to use bake-to-harden clay on customs?
Do you bake the sculpted stuff separate, or can you just stick the whole pony in the oven? Is there a danger of her melting if you do that?

I know Oven + Hair = BAD, but I'm still not certain on the relationship between Oven and Pony.
And I'd rather ask you guys than throw a pony in the oven and see what happens ^^;;

Sculpey rules.:eek:k: I've not had any meltings and i'm on my 7th or 8th baked pony. So yes, you can stick a pony with sculpey on it in the oven. I do 10 minutes on 250 (f) for most of mine ^^

-lols at the thumbs up guy-

Cool, I'm glad you can speak from experience. I figured they would melt, but I guess it would take higher temperatures for that, wouldn't it? -writes down time and temp- Thanks DPP ^_^

Heh, no problem :) Many people kept telling me, stop using air dry, use SCULPEY, DPP!!..and Kar finally convinced me to start using it, and i'm so glad I did. Another thing, I always seperate head from body while baking. If i'm doing a full sculpt- tail and mane- then that blocks the ventilation- the hair plugs and tail hole. So, that also helps prevent melting incidents ^^

Thanks for the tips, though I don't think I'll be doing any hair molding anytime soon. Just "clothes" for now (and unicorn horns. I loves me some unicorn horns ^_^)

sculpy works fine. all the oven does is soften the plastic which is a bonuis if you want to stick wire into them (that's how i do my ornaments/keychain out of McPonys) and you can even put in in for multiple heatings and it'll work fine. for G3s. you might want to only put a G1 in once; multile times may cause the plastic to become brittle (my Sparklers/Sparta was an example of that...) oh and when i bake i leave the heads attatched because if you bake them seperately i'll warp it and it won't go back on prperly. of course, i don't sculpt hair only extra stuffs like horms and clothing-like extras. alsop, heating it up softens the glue that holds the neck-that's how i decapitate my McPonys now, other wise you have to cut the neck off fully! but sculpy=good! i use only sculpy and i've had no complaints yet ^^
