Restore doll ? ~need to match breyer horses *ANOTHER ?*

For anyone familiar with Misty & Stormy the Breyers, what restore doll hair would be good? Or should I just go with a shade of white? The models have white, but perhaps someone knows if the real horses manes were white. Blossomforth & Goody Gumdrop are going to turn into my favorite Chincoteague ponies :D


As far as the hair goes, seeing as I'm doing Stormy as a foal, would it look better to make her hair appear that way? IE, short and kinda spiked?
 
I have Misty and Stormy, and I'd say go with a creamy color. White white on "real" horses doesnt look real lol if that makes any sense. I think the creamy matches better with their butterscotch like colors as well.

Going off of the Breyer colouring, I think Cognac mixed with Mahogany would give you the closest to her colour if you worked some of that in.

For the white I'd actually go with Platinum blonde or Megan if you're going to do the "not-quite-white" suggestion, or, well, stick with platinum white since these aren't technically real horses. Your choice. Either would look good.

Thanks guys. :D Stormy's forlock appears to have some color to it. I don't suppose anyone has pics of Misty's foal Phantom Wings???? Or even the Pied Piper????? Time to rent the movie I guess.

My Misty Picture book would be packed. >_<

Let's see...I know Breyer did Phantom Wing's mane and tail white, same as Misty. I think the one black and white shot in the book looked the same. Misty looked very much like her Dad, so I'd think the Pied Piper could be haired the same as her. In the movie, Phantom had a very cream mane - I'd definitely go with Megan for that one.

As for the library renting it...I don't know. You'll hav to check.

My breyer model of Phantom Wings is at my Dad's, but in pics he looks to be quite a buttercream color. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with an entire Misty line before I'm done. I've got her patttern skeched out on Blossomforth, and I'm off to get the paint. For Misty's hair, I bought platinum white & opal essence blended. We shall see how it looks finished. For Stormy, I'm thinking of a blended skien of cognac & saucy brown, but after seeing my paint options, I'm make a decision. I just can't decide if I want to keep a foal "look" to Stormy's hait.
 
Sorry to be slightly OT, but: I'm reading those books right now! Today I couldn't stop reading. My English teacher scared me when she demanded: "What are you working on?" :lol:

I didn't know they made Breyers of the horses!? :eeek: Me WAAANTS! *grabby hands*

Yep. They make Misty, Stormy, Phantom Wings, ?Wisp O' Mist?, Misty's Twilight, Misty II, and a few others I think. Stormy & Wisp are Misty's daughters & Phantom Wings was her only colt. Wisp & Phantom Wings died in '64 at only 3 & 4 years old. Stormy lived until 1993 at a ripe old age of 30. She's the one who gave Misty such lovely granddaughters and continued the line.
