Ok before I go showing off the custom I want to explain. For years I've had a "twisted fairy tale"-like story idea in my head, and recently I've started to work some of it onto paper in forms of sketches and a scene or two with character bios. In this story, the police force is reffered to as "The Hoods" because of the small hooded capes they wear, and Robin Locks, one of the main characters, is a Hood. Her nickname being "Red" due to her bright red hair and eyes. So this custom was to help me figure out the colors for her character really...that and I was bored XD;;
So this is Red's rough colored concept sketch:
And here she is as a pony (please ignore the clear hair band-the hair isn't cooperating with me >>;; ):
She was a Blossomforth who's face I accidentally stained so a FBR was her only option. I rarely do "human" pony versions because....well idk why, less fun maybe? But it worked well for her. All sculpting was done with sculpy. Her hair came from a $Tree wig, and though soft, DOES NOT style. Here I thought it was a simple hair style, and would be no problem but of course it has to be evil. Hair spray failed and we have no hair gel, so the longer parts heve to be held down...oh well. Her cape was made from some gray zipp-off pants leg I had lying around (legs went missing, shorts were out grown and given away, legs found and put in my scrap box), and I dyed it that deep red.
Her painting was fairly easy. The dark blue was the first time I tried out my "Shiny" FolkArt Night Sky-shniy seems to equal glossy for some reason. I tried a little variantion in her eye painting for a more stylized look, and I guess it works. Her gun was actually a crossbow at 1 point; I took it off a SHS bait, and had it lying around so I added a handle and srtapped it to her leg.
So I think she turned out great. She really helped me flesh out more ideas, and I'm half considering pony-fying some of the other characters I have set out...but we'll have to wait and see about that.
