Do you think they used these as ideas for designing Princess Celestia?

I think Celestia had influence from many different celestial ponies of the past. Celestial ponies always seemed to be sparkly, colored like the sky, or have striking colors. I think that reflects the sky itself. The twinkling lights of stars, blues and whites of the afternoon sky, and the yellow of the bright sun. I think Celestia continues this pattern with her bright cutie mark, cloud white fur, and shimmering multi colored hair.

Word on the grapevine is that Queen Princess Celestia is based on Majesty. Slap some wings on her, give her a sister with whom she shares a day/night theme, and there you go.

I think Celestia looks a lot more like Starshine than Majesty, tbh. Probably a combination of those two.
